NARRATIVE REPORT ON NATIONAL READING MONTH CELEBRATION
Pangpang Elementary School joined the national observation of the
annual National Reading Month last November 28, 2019 as spearheaded by the department of Education (Deped) with the theme, Magbasa’t Umunlad, to promote love for reading. This is in connection with DepEd’s commitment to provide quality, accessible, relevant, and liberating basic education for all and to lay the foundation of lifelong learning and service for the common good.
The school held program to culminate the celebration, to observe
the Nationwide Araw ng Pagbasa and to showcase the pupil’s capability in terms of reading. Best practices are still conducting most especially in Primary Grades such as Picture of the Day, Letter of the Day, A Word of the Day, Vocabulary, Story Telling, and Story Reading. Essay/ paragraph reading and writing are the focus in Intermediate Grades. These activities were helping the learners to learn how to read and read to learn.
Finally, on November 28 at exactly 9:00 in the morning the school
conducted “Araw ng Pagbasa Challenge”. All learners and teachers participated actively in the synchronized reading and were able to demonstrate that reading can take many forms but it does not need to be tedious nor intimidating. It can be enjoyed and shared with friends and loved ones.
