1 PREPARATION

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE WARNINGS AND ALL
THE CAUTIONS INCLUDED IN THE REFERENCED PROCEDURES.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN


POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR.

WARNING: PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN


POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
MOVEMENT OF COMPONENTS CAN KILL OR INJURE PERSONS.

CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE


WING TRAILING EDGE:
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE
INSTALLATIONS
- MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED
CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

CAUTION: ALWAYS OBEY THE PRECAUTIONS THAT FOLLOW TO KEEP


ELECTRICAL WIRING IN A SATISFACTORY CONDITION (ELECTRICALLY
AND MECHANICALLY SERVICEABLE). WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE
WORK, REPAIRS OR MODIFICATIONS, ALWAYS KEEP ELECTRICAL
WIRING, COMPONENTS AND THE WORK AREA AS CLEAN AS
POSSIBLE. TO DO THIS:
- PUT PROTECTION, SUCH AS PLASTIC SHEETING, CLOTHS, ETC; AS
NECESSARY ON WIRING AND COMPONENTS
- REGULARLY REMOVE ALL SHAVINGS, UNWANTED MATERIAL AND
OTHER CONTAMINATION.
THESE PRECAUTIONS WILL DECREASE THE RISK OF CONTAMINATION
AND DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL WIRING INSTALLATION. IF THERE
IS CONTAMINATION, REFER TO ESPM 20-55-00.

NOTE: The accomplishment instructions of this Service Bulletin include


procedures given in other documents or in other sections of the Service
Bulletin. When the words "refer to" are used and the operator has a procedure
accepted by the local authority he belongs to, the accepted alternative
procedure can be used. When the words "in accordance with" are used then
the given procedure must be followed.

(1) Job Set-Up

NOTE: The items given in this note shall be considered as the basic
Aircraft
configuration before you start a maintenance task:

Continue - Aircraft on the ground resting on landing gear (the ground safety
1 locks and the wheel chocks are in position on the landing gear)
- Engine shut down, thrust reversers closed and locked
- Aircraft in clean configuration
- Parking brake applied
- Aircraft electrical network de-energized
- Hydraulic systems depressurized
- Access to the cockpit and cabin is available
- All circuit breakers are in closed position
- All controls in NORM, AUTO or OFF position.

(a) Make sure that the aircraft is electrically grounded, refer to AMM Task
12-34-24-869-002.
(b) Make sure that the ground safety locks are in position on the MLG,
refer to AMM Task 32-00-00-481-001.
(c) Open the MLG doors, refer to AMM Task 32-12-00-010-001.
(d) Put the access platforms in position at zones 571, 574, 671 and 674.

(2) Open For Access


(a) Remove the access panels 574AB (674AB) as necessary, refer to AMM
Task 57-51-37-000-008.

(3) Clean the Inspection Area


(a) Clean the applicable inspection area with 08BAA9 Cleaner, refer to Fig.
A-UCAAA Sheet 01.

2 PROCEDURE

NOTE: All Taper-Lok fasteners (9/16 in. and 5/8 in.) must be visually
inspected to reduce risk of confusion and missed inspections of the affected
9/16 in. fasteners.

(1) Do a Detailed Inspection (DET) of the Fasteners at the Inboard Internal


Surface of the Gear Rib 5,LH Wing RII

(a)At the inboard internal surface of gear rib 5 web,refer to Fig. A-UCAAA
Sheet 01, inspect for missing/migrated fasteners and/or missing nuts/tails.
(b) If no fasteners are missing or migrated and no nuts/tails are missing:
- Complete the Inspection Report Sheets with all findings, including nil
findings per Fig. A-URAAA Sheet 01
- Go to step 3.
(c) If fastener missing or migrated or nuts/tail missing is found,report to
related structure engineer.

Inspection Result:

(2) Do a Detailed Inspection (DET) of the Fasteners at the Inboard Internal RII

Continue (a) At the inboard internal surface of gear rib 5 web,refer to Fig. A-UCAAA
2 Sheet 01, inspect for missing/migrated fasteners and/or missing nuts/tails.
(b) If no fasteners are missing or migrated and no nuts/tails are missing: RII
- Complete the Inspection Report Sheets with all findings, including nil
findings per Fig. A-URBAA Sheet 01
- Go to step 3.
(c) If fastener missing or migrated or nuts/tail missing is found,report to
related structure engineer.

CLOSE-UP

(1) Close-Up

(a) If necessary, install access panels 574AB (674AB), refer to AMM Task
57-51-37-400-008.
(b) Make sure that the work areas are clean and clear of tools and other
items of equipment.
(c)Remove the ground safety locks from the MLG, refer to AMM
Task32-00-00-081-001.
(d) Remove the access platforms.
(e) Close the MLG doors, refer to AMM Task 32-12-00-410-001.
(f)Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
