Dimensioning HSUPA Parameter In ZTE RAN

In ZTE RAN, maximum number of HSUPA users is defined by edchTrafLimit parameter under
UUtranCellFDD object. This paramater is configured in Cell level. The higher allocated edchTrafLimit
will allow more HSUPA users admi ed into the network. The lower allocated edchTrafLimit will reduce
the number of HSUPA users admi ed into the network. Let’s say that your network default
edchTrafLimit parameter value is 36 per Cell. It means that every cell of those Node Bs can admit up to
36 HSUPA users.

Other parameters which should be considered in dimensioning HSUPA users are numofEagch,
numofErgHich, maxEAgchNum & maxERgHichNum under UCHspa object. E-AGCH (E-DCH
Absolute Grant Channel), E-RGCH (E-DCH Relative Grant Channel) & E-HICH (E-DCH Hybrid ARQ
Indicator Channel) are special channels introduced in HSUPA technology. Every E-AGCH can support
up to 25 HSUPA users. E-RGCH & E-HICH can support up to 20 HSUPA users.

So, number of allocated E-AGCH in a cell is edchTrafLimit divided by 25. Then the value should be
rounded up. For E-RGCH and E-HICH, number of allocated channel in a cell is edchTrafLimit divided
by 20. Then the value should be rounded up too.Se ing those value too high can increase admi ed
HSUPA users into the network but can affect downlink resources.
