FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES

Formative Assessment 1: Musical Piece Analysis

Using a musical piece, the pupils analyze the musical line by identifying the rests being used. They are
grouped according to color groupings.
LESSON DEVELOPMENT PLAN
ASP ACTIVATION & SPRINGBOARDING PHASE
1. The musical piece of a song is shown to the class. Pupils sing the song together. Guide questions are
then given to facilitate understanding of the song being presented and to lead the pupils to the lesson of
the day.

a. What can you see on the musical piece aside from the notes?
b. Which part of the song did we pause or stop for a while?
2. Through a Picture Analysis, the teacher facilitates an insightful discussion of the pictures. To aid the
discussion, he utilizes the pupils’ responses to the guide questions. To be highlighted in the discussion is
the infusion of the value ACCURACY and the contemporary issue about Noise Pollution is also given
emphasis.

“That just like rests used in music, we need to be silent and be reflected for sometime; because it is only in

CSD CONCEPT & SKILL DEVELOPMENT PHASE

1. The terms rests and time values are discussed to the class. Each rests is presented and the pupils

b. What would happen if there are no rests in a song?
2. In a form of Musical Piece Analysis, the pupils analyze the musical line by identifying the rests being
used. They are grouped according to color groupings.
3. To strengthen the pupils understanding about the lesson, the pupils clap every note and pause for every
