Assessment of learning is the picture in time that lets the

teacher, students and their parents know how well each student has completed the learning
tasks and activities. It offers information about student achievement. While it delivers useful
reporting information, it often has little effect on learning.
When students are able to see how they are doing in a class, they are able to determine
whether or not they understand course material. Thus, assessment can also help motivate
students and is a key component of learning because it helps students learn.
Its primary purpose of assessment is to improve students' learning and teachers'
teaching as both respond to the information it provides. Assessment for learning is an ongoing
process that arises out of the interaction between teaching and learning.
Assessment is a vital aspect of the education program that we have today. Assessment
aim is to gather relevant information about student success or development, or to assess
student interests in making decisions about their learning process.
To become an integral part of the learning process, teachers need to adjust their
approach in three essential ways: Using tests as knowledge sources for both students and
teachers. Match tests with appropriate corrective guidance. Offer students second
opportunities to prove themselves.
In Grade 1, assessment tend to be more intricate, as it would assess children who are
just starting to learn and do not really have knowledge on grades and performance and treat
everything as a game, where everyone must win or pass. There are considerations that a
teacher in Grade one must consider than just numbers or performance in tests or activities.
More than their performance, a teacher must be sensitive enough in the development of their
attitudes, their learning development. Assessing the learning of Grade one is far more intricate
than expected.
