We will be using chromebooks daily in this classroom.
Please make sure you have returned the
technology/internet agreement with your child’s
registration form so that your child can use their
chromebook in class.

How we do things...
Homework
There will be weekly homework
given every Monday afternoon
which will need to be returned the
following Monday morning.
Weekly homework will include :
● the current spelling words to
be practiced by rewriting each
word twice each day
● a leveled fluency passage to be
read three times each day
20 minutes of reading a book of
●
the student’s choice
● Student reading logs filled out
and signed by a parent or
guardian.
An example of the weekly homework is
attached to this sheet.
If the student has been absent, their
missed classwork will also be sent
home as homework.
In the event that distance learning
becomes necessary, homework
completion will
still be expected.
Grading
Every student will be given grades
for math and english language arts
(ELA). Both reading and writing will
be included in the ELA category. For
both subjects we will use proficiency
based grading (PBG) which is as
follows :
4 - Above Proficient
*3 - Proficient (on grade level)*
2 - Approaching Proficient
1 - Below Proficient
Absences & Tardies
Work that we do while a student is absent
will be kept for and given to them in a
packet when they come back to school. They
will need to take the packet of absent work
home for homework and return the
completed work the next school day.
We begin instruction promptly at 8:45 each
morning so it is extremely important to be
to school on time each day. Please keep early
check outs to a minimum.
In the event of distance learning, attendance
will be taken based on students logging in
and completing work each day. Thank you!
