Share knowledge to Engine stall.
Failure/Problem
Machine has been alarm from monitor. (987-3)

Symptom
Machine start operated boom raise, arm in/ out, bucket in has been engine stall. Boost pressure has
abnormal. We found monitor alarm has not seen. Engine has first idle and first speed good condition, but
don’t operated attachment.
History
Machine has wire shock. So new ECM and repair wire harness change. Installation this two piece our
service. This job not finished. Machine has (987-3) failure code and engine stall.
Cause & analysis
Our service team tested the machine. Machine has been engine stall. So we read the monitor unit. We
found P1, P2 flow rate, engine unit false code, engine torque, air cleaner filter, fuel filter, fuel tank. This was
correct, but boost pressure abnormal (boost pressure normal (94-96 kpa). Operating attachment when boost
pressure (130-202 kpa) nearly intake air pressure equal. So boost pressure sensor, engine wire harness (D
socket) D17, D18, D22, ECM socket E95 checked. (This line power supply).

Action
Our service team inspected the machine. Machine does not operate. Because of, when machine operate
boom raise, arm, bucket and straight travel, engine was stall. We checked monitor unit, found boost
pressure low (74 KPa). So, checked the boost sensor. It was ok. Boost sensor harness line check
conduction. This ok. So, we check boost sensor supply voltage (3.5) V. But not seen failure code. Engine
harness (D) between ECM socket (E 95) socket loosen. So we repair the socket (ECM) install. Then, tested
the machine was ok.
