Subject
Precision weakness of Hydraulic Spool
Failure/Problem
Blade can't tilt CCW and only can tilt to clockwise.

Symptom
Machine can work normally before hydraulic system becomes hot. After 3 hr operation, hydraulic oil is hot
and blade can’t tilt CCW. Other functions of hydraulic system are normal.
History

Machine is new and just delivery from Head Office. Customer send machine to Rakhine Ann Site. Machine
is used about 3 hrs and Blade can’t tilt CCW. Other functions are OK. Customer calls UM Service team to
inspect the machine.
Cause & analysis
This problem is caused by weak precision of machining control parts. All components and hydraulic functions are no
fault. Tension on tilt spool is stronger than another lift spool. Diameters are 40.015 for tilt and 40.01 mm for lift spool.
Diameters are different because of machining. Change smaller spool to tilt control and test tension on spools (ok).
Action
Checked hydraulic oil, transmission oil. Transmission oil was so contamination. So replaced transmission oil. Made
test run not OK. Checked control servo systems and all linkages. Cleaned all control servos and adjust linkage. Test
run, not OK. So dismantle hydraulic tank. Checked hydraulic control valve body. Cleaned control valve (spool).Made
correct aliment and tightened the attachments bolts of valve body with correct torque between control linkage and
valve body. Reinstalled all the dismantle components. Test run, not OK. Dismantle hydraulic tank and check with
intensive care (no fault).There are two same spools (blade tilt and lift) in hydraulic system. Check tension on two
spools. Tilt spool is more difficult to pull than another lift spool. Diameters are 40.015 for tilt and 40.01 mm for lift
spool. So change two spools and test machine. Now the machine condition was OK.
