Failure/Problem

Engine can’t start

Symptom

Engine can’t start and display the error code 636-2 (crank speed sensor) at the monitor
History

Cause & analysis

Prepared for engine test run. Engine wire harness was installed. Connected with main wire harness,
controller and other equipment. Jump start the battery. But engine can’t start. Then found that 636-2 error
code (crank sensor) displayed from the monitor. So, crank speed sensor changed with new one. It was not
ok. Checked the timing gears adjustment, it was correct. Then checked the engine harness. Restart the
engine. But it was not good. Changed the engine wire harness with the new one. Restart the engine, it was
not ok. Doubted the battery charging and main harness. So checked the battery changing, it was not ok.
Changed the new battery from the airman engine and jump signaling with external cable between sensor
and ECM main socket. Then start the engine it was start and error code 636-2 was disappeared. It was ok.

Action

The cause of this problem was controller means ECM recorded the 636-2 error code and batteries charging
low like that this problem can be happen mechanical fault (timing adjustment), fuel system (supply pump,
common rail and injector) and electrical system and many other conditions.
