5 RADIO TEACHER: Do you have all your pen, notebook, module and learning activity sheet?
6 SFX: Yes!(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbWhxq3xNLU)
7 RADIO TEACHER: Very good! Let’s begin. (PAUSE) Today, we are going to discuss

10 SFX: Yehey!(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_cSPdRW4jA)
11 RADIO TEACHER: At the end of this lesson, you should be able to compare and

14 and Communication Technologies? (PAUSE) Very Good! Kindly

15 list down 3 examples of product of ICT and write what do you like

16 about these products. (PAUSE) You are all right! Information and

17 Communication Technolohy or ICT deals with the use of different

17 communication technologies such as mobile phones, telephone,
18 internet, etc. to locate, save, send and edit information.
19 SFX: Wow!

Empowerment Technology. . . 3

1 RADIO TEACHER: We need the ICT in locating some places that we need to find.

2 We also use ICT to save and edit our works from our laptops

3 and messages to our love ones such as our cellphones.

4 BIZ: MSC UP AND THEN UNDER

5 RADIO TEACHER: Are you familiar with www? (PAUSE) Very good! It means

6 World Wide Web. How about web pages? In case you do not

7 about these, let me tell to you about this web pages. (PAUSE)

8 When this was invented, most web pages were static (flat page

9 or stationary page). It means it cannot be manipulated by the

10 user. And this is the Web 1.0.

11 (PAUSE)

12 SFX Videoplayback(52)

13 RADIO TEACHER: The other one is web 2.0. This is the evolution of Web 1.0. In
14 this web page, the user is able to see a website differently than

15 the others. This includes sites, blogs, wikis, video sharing sites,

16 hosted services and web applications. (PAUSE) Do you know

17 some examples of educational sites?

18 SFX KIDS YEAH (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHWwnOus5Ik

19 RADIO TEACHER: Yes! The DepEd Commons. How about video sharing sites?

20 (PAUSE) Web 2.0 also allows users to interact with the page

21 instead of just reading a page, the user may be able to comment

22 or create a user account. (PAUSE). An examples of it are

1 our social media accounts. In our facebook, we can

2 comment there, post our thoughts and pictures

3 and chat with our friends.

4. SFX: BUMPER IN THEN OUT

5 RADIO TEACHER: You will be familiarized more with these web pages as we

6 go further to our topic. Let us have first a short break for 2

7 minutes.

9 BIZ: MSC CROSS GAIN AND THEN UNDER

10 RADIO TEACHER: What do you think is the most website we visit today?

11 (PAUSE) Yes! You are correct! It is the Web 2.0. Web 2.0 has

12 6 features. These are folksonomy, rich user experience, long

13 tail, user participation, software as a service, and mass

14 participation. I will repeat, the 6 features of web 2.0 are are

15 folksonomy, rich user experience, long tail, user

16 participation, software as a service, and mass participation.

17 Did you get it? (PAUSE) Very good!

18 SFX: CLAPPING (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fsh3ITUsX-0

19 RADIO TEACHER: Folksonomy allows users to categorize and classify or

20 arrange information using freely chosen keywords like

22 tagging. Examples are twitter, Instagram, facebook and

1 many more. Are you familiar with the hashtag? (PAUSE)

2 What sign represents this? (PAUSE) You are correct!
3 It is called the number sign or also known as the pound sign.
4 SFX WOW
5 RADIO TEACHER: Another feature of Web 2.0 is rich user experience. In here, the
6 content is dynamic and is responsive to user’s input. An

7 example is a website that shows local content. The third feature

8 is long tail. In this, services are offered on demand rather than

9 on a one-time purchase. Do you buy your load just to have a

10 data plan? (PAUSE)Do you go to the internet shop and pay 15-

11 20 pesos per hour? Then this is an example of long tail.

12 SFX: Ohhhhh sound effect

13 RADIO TEACHER: The third feature is the user participation. In this feature, the

. owner of the website is not the only one who is able to put

14 content. Others are able to place content of their own by means

15 of comment, reviews, and evaluation. For example, if you

16 wanted to buy a product online and you want to make sure if

17 that product is good then you need to read the reviews of the

18 product because in this section, the customers are posting their

19 comments about the product received. Can you name some

20 online shops that exist here in the Philippines? (PAUSE)

Empowerment Technology . . . 6

1 Very good! (PAUSE) Let’s now proceed to the next feature of

2 web 2.0, the software as a service.Users will subscribe to a
3 software only when needed rather than purchasing them. An
4 example of this is the google docs. It is a free web-based
5 application that allows the user to create and edit word

6 processing and spreadsheet documents online.

7 SFX: KIDS YEAH (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHWwnOus5Ik)
8 RADIO TEACHER: The last feature is the mass participation. It is a diverse

information sharing through universal web access.

9 (PAUSE)
10 RADIO TEACHER: Do you know the other kinds of a web?
11 (PAUSE)
12 RADIO TEACHER: Correct! It is the web 3.0 and the Semantic web. Do you an idea
13 about this?
14 (PAUSE)
15 The web 3.0 aims to have machines (or servers) understand the
16 user’s preferences to be able to deliver web content specifically
17 targeting the user.
18 (PAUSE)
19 RADIO TEACHER: Web 3.0 has several problems. These are compatibility, security
20 vastness, vagueness and logic.

3 Consortum (W3C). The W3C standard encourages web

4 developers to include semantic content in their web pages.

5 (PAUSE)
6 RADIO TEACHER: We are done differentiating the different webs. We will proceed

7 now to the trends in ICT. There are four trends in the ICT. Number 1 is

convergence, number 2 is social media, number 3 is the mobile

8 Technologies and number 4 is the assistive media.

9 (PAUSE)

10 RADIO TEACHER: Technological convergence is the synergy technological

11 advancements to work on a similar goal or task. Social media

12 is a website, application , or online channels that enable web users to

create, co-create, discuss, modify, and exchange user

13 generated content.

14 (PAUSE)

15 RADIO TEACHER: The next trend is the social media. There are 6 types of it. These

16 Are the social networks, bookmarking sites, social news, media

17 Sharing, microblogging and blogs and forums.

18 (PAUSE)

19 Social networks are sites that allow you to connect with other

20 people with the same interest and backgrounds.

2 RADIO TEACHER: The next type of social media is the bookmarking sites. These

3 are sites that allow you to store and manage links to various

4 websites and resources.

5 (PAUSE)

6 RADIO TEACHER: The third type is the social news. These are sites that allow
7 users to post their own news items or links to other news

8 resources

9 (PAUSE)

10 RADIO TEACHER: The next type is the media sharing. These are sites that allow
10 You to upload and share medua content like images, music

11 and video. Can you name me an example of this? (PAUSE)

12 Great! The fifth type of social media is the microblogging.

13 These are sites that focus on short updates from the user.

14 (PAUSE)

15 RADIO TEACHER: The last type of social media is the blogs and forums.

16 These websites allow users to post their content. We are

17. done with the 6 types of social media.

8 Blackberry OS. Did you get the correct answer? (PAUSE)

9 Good job! Other examples of operating systems are windows

10 phone OS, Symbian, webOS and windows mobile
11 (PAUSE)
12 RADIO TEACHER: Let’s continue. The last trend in ICT is the assistive media. It is a

13 nonprofit Service designed to help people who have visual and

14 reading impairments. Examples are the hearing aid, the reading

15 pens, digital recorders and many more.

16 (PAUSE)
17 RADIO TEACHER: So that’s it class! Did you understand our lesson?
18 SFX Yes!
19 RADIO TEACHER: Excellent!

20 INFOMERCIAL 2

21 RADIO TEACHER: Hello there again class! Since we are done in our discussion, let
