GENERAL RULES AND GUIDELINES

ELIGIBILITY
1. The Contest is open to ALL CATBALOGANON YOUTH.
2. Participants must submit their application form on or before August 9, 2019 through
https://forms.gle/J1dszVESnKF12bh67 .

THE PARTICIPATING TEAM

1. A team shall be composed of two (2) contestants.
2. The contestant must be a resident of the City of Catbalogan within six (6) months prior to
the scheduled contest.
3. All teams are expected to report promptly at the registration booth at the event venue.
Failure to report at the said booth 15 minutes after the scheduled start of the qualifying
round forfeits the team’s chance to join the competition.

THE PANEL OF JUDGES

1. The Judges shall decide on all case of complaints or protests raised by any of the
participants.
2. It shall be composed of prominent experts of the field they represent.
3. The decision of the Panel of Judges are final and irrevocable.

SCOPE
The questions for this competition will be formulated from the following categories, which are similar
to the themes/topics:
1. Geography, Culture and History of the Philippines, Samar and Catbalogan
2. Science
3. Mathematics
4. Current Events

MECHANICS OF THE COMPETITION

1. There will be three (3) elimination rounds before the final deciding round. The three
elimination rounds are easy, moderate and difficult rounds.
2. In each round, there will be ten (10) questions that will be asked taken from the above
categories.
3. Least performing team(s) will be eliminated every after each round, until three (3) teams
remain for the final round.
4. For the final round, all qualifiers will have equal footing and disregarding their ranks
and scores from the previous rounds. A category game will be employed in which
only the group with the unique correct answer shall be given credit point.
5. Highest scorer shall be declared as the winner.

PRIZES
First Place Php 5,000.00 with Certificate of Recognition for the Team
Second Place Php 4,000.00 with Certificate of Recognition for the Team
Third Place Php 3,000.00 with Certificate of Recognition for the Team
Consolation Prize Php 1,000.00 with Certificate of Participation for the Team
