MY OWN DEFINITION OF EDUCATION

B. EXPLANATION AND EXAMPLES

EDUCATION IS A CATALYST FOR CHANGE THAT BLOOMS LEARNERS TO THEIR

UTMOST POTENTIALS

In my perspective, education is a catalyst for change that blooms learners to their

utmost potentials. We know that change is inevitable in this world. Sometimes, you’re happy,
sometimes you’re not. There are changes in your choices, changes in your style. To grow and
survive in the fast pacing world, continuous change is needed for improvement. However,
changes in your life would happen when education is achieved. As a student, education is a
significant way for us to change our world. Talents, skills, and knowledge would develop when
we are eager to learn. Our utmost potentials would be developed – right values, excellent
mindset, and responsible citizen. When we want something, we do exert a lot of effort even if it
cost an arm and a leg.

Learners are like flowers. We go through a process of blooming. Yes, it may not be the
same kind of process, but it has the same result: something beautiful. Learner as a catalyst for
change must face the reality of life and face any challenge with bravery. This is like education.
When we are willing to learn, sacrifice, and wait, there’s something beautiful waiting for us.
Then, we will be seen as successful and having a harmonious life.

We have seen a lot of stories that changed their lives when they bloomed through
education. An example is the life of Ramil Comendaror. He is a former COMELEC janitor then
became a lawyer. He is now working as an Election Officer IV in Comelec. This shows that hard
work pays off. As a result, he is now practicing his utmost potential, and change in his life
happened through education.

Another example is the life of Norman King. He is the first aeta to graduate at the
University of the Philippines. Despite being discriminated, his foundation is the determination
and goal to change his life. By having an education, he brought aetas such pride.

In life, when we want a change, education is a way for us to achieve our goals. Three
things I want to point out is Patience, Persistence, and Perseverance. Just keep on learning
because the well of knowledge will not run out.

of experiences.”

that occurs between adults with children is a field or state where the educational work in
progress.”
 5.) H.H. HORNE – In the broadest sense, education is the device by which a social group
continued existence renew yourself, and defend his ideals.”
6.) JOSE RIZAL – “Without education, and liberty, which are the soil and the sun of man,
no reform is possible, no measure can give the result desired.”
