 Aim and Objective of the Plan

The aim of emergency planning is to ensure that the

safety of the students and the staff is maintained
during an emergency. The School Disaster
management plan is a means by which this can be
achieved. Its main objectives are: -
 To identify the hazards in the school
 To manage the hazards
 To mitigate the effects through planning and
effective response
 To engage in activities which may help in
minimizing the damages caused by disasters.
 To make endeavours towards creating awareness
among the students and staff members about
disasters and its consequences and to prepare
them in advance to face such situations and to
ensure their participation in the disaster
mitigation plans.
 To act as an agency for the execution of disaster
management schemes of the government.
 To undertake studies on a regular basis to procure
disaster management information - data base and
to engage in the task of risk assessment and
vulnerability analysis for the school.
 To evolve information reporting and monitoring
tools for preparedness, immediate response and
damage assessment, keeping in view the
socioeconomic conditions of the area.

Hazard Risk
and Vulnerability Assessment

A team of three teachers under the chairmanship of

Principal constituted to find all the structural and Non-
Structural defects of the school campus , Mukesh Bhardwaj
(PGT Eco), Vijay Kumar DPE and Randhir Singh PET ,closely
visited all the rooms of school and submitted their report to
the Principal Sh. B.K.Negi for further modification and
rectification.
On the recommendation of Principal, necessary
Non-Structural modifications and retrofitting were done
and where ever it was necessary the almirahs were
dislocated.

 Dangers Threatening the School

Natural Disasters

Earthquakes:- School is located in the Distt. Sirmour

which is in zone-IV

Flash Floods and Storms:- School is located in the foothills of

Sain Dhar of Sirmour Valley where excessive rains and storms are
more frequent.

Forest Fire :- Thick Forest of Pines and other trees is in the vicinity
of school. Low lying shrubs thickens the forests hence are more
prone to forest fire.

Weakness of Drills

As the safety of small children is priority therefore their

participation is still a bit slow. Also, they take more time to learn
new tactics and things.

 Electric Safety

SDMC inspected whole building and blocks of school and

prepared a list of electric hazards and also suggested the measures.
At some places the wiring was open and fan hangings were not
proper. With the help of electrician all the wires were repaired and
fan hangings were checked. Main switches and fuse with kit- kat
were properly checked.
Sign board with danger signs were also placed to aware the
students.
