IV. CONTENT/INSTRUCTION:

Body Mechanics- the static and the functional relationship between the parts that make up the body and the body as a whole.
-is a broad term that implies the application of the physical laws to the human body at rest or in motion.
-refers to the study of human movements or the fundamentals of kinetics.
-is also posture education.

Human Movement
- Movement is used some way, to some degree, in every task accomplished by human beings.
- Life is a movement, lack of movement is death.
- Is required for practically every human task.

Somatype or Body Classification (accdg to Kretshmer & Sheldon)


1. Asthenic Ectomorph Lean, slim, shallow chested and tall
2. Athletic Mesomorph Muscular, broad shoulder, developed chest
3. Pyknic Endomorph Broad rounder figure, large heavy neck
4. Dysplastic Abnormal bodies, abnormal builds

Posture- refers to the habitual or assumed alignment and balance of the body segments while standing, walking, sitting or lying.

Values of Good Posture


1. Good appearance- body contributes greatly in the attainment of one’s good appearance
2. Movement efficiency- graceful and coordinated
3. Improved fitness- circulation to the vital organs is affected by slumped chest resulting in poor breathing

Causes of Poor Posture
1. Environmental influence- improper shoes, narrow or short socks, unfit clothing, improper seating, chairs, table and desks
2. Psychological condition- egotism, shyness, modesty, hypersensitive, depression
3. Pathological condition- faulty visions and hearing, cardio condition
4. Growth handicaps- weakness I skeletal and muscular system
5. Congenital defects- amputation, joint and bone deformities

Movement- is any change in the position of the body in space.

Types of Body Movements


1. Axial Movements- are movements done by a part or several parts of the body in stationary place.
a. Bend or flex- to move the body or a part of the body around a wide axis.
b. Lift/rise- to elevate a part of the body to a desired level.
c. Stretch, extend, and straighten- to lengthen a part of the body.
d. Twist- to move a body around a long axis.
e. Circle- to move a body around a point.
f. Swing- to move continuously from one point to the other.
g. Turn, Rotate- to change directions to move around an axis.

2. Locomotor movements- are movements that bring the performer from one place to another.
a. Walk- a series of steps in all directions.
b. Run- is to walk with longer strides with a push-off by the foot suspends the body momentarily in the air.
c. Hop- is to spring on one foot and to land on the other same foot.
d. Skip- is to step and hop wit the same foot in one count.
e. Leap- is to spring on one foot and to land on the other foot.
f. Jump- is to spring on both feet and to land on one or both feet.
g. Gallop- is a combined step and a cut.
h. Slide- is to glide the foot right and left along a smooth surface.

The module focuses on giving importance in improving movement’s skills and apply postural principles on daily life activities to be able to contribute significantly in the
community.

VI. EXERCISES / ACTIVITIES /ASSIGNMENT

 Perform the different axial and locomotor skills with eight (8) counts each skills applying the different direction of movements
 Rubrics:

VIII. DELIBERATION

The class starts with a short discussion of the activities for 40 minutes. The execution of the following tests are to be recorded during the remaining time of the class and the rest
of the days of the week simultaneously and the videos are submitted the following week. The scores will be given to the students through messaging. If
all the given tests will not be finished, it will be continued on the next meeting.
