Communicating Ethics at Cisco

1. The ethics idol is more useful than in-person PowerPoint training because first of all, it
was very entertaining to the employees and it catches their attention, unlike the
PowerPoint which can easily bore them. Second, it is proven that the content of ethics
idol is more understandable and easy to comprehend because they used cartoons rather
than PowerPoint training where employees will just read. And lastly, since it portrays
vague and real-life scenarios they can easily apply it in their work because the answers of
judges teach them how to be ethical in work. In conclusion, communicating ethics
through their employees is more effective when they use ethical idol because it uses
verbal and non-verbal communication.

2. We are living in the 21st century and that kind of training is timely in our generation that
is why as an employee of CISCO, I would enjoy using ethical idol for training. Because it
will be entertaining for me since they used a cartoon-based video to address the ethics
that is why I would more likely to pay attention rather than viewing PowerPoint. Since it
already caught my attention it would be easier for me to understand and comprehend it
especially in our generation that is technology-based. And it will be an effective channel
for me to apply it as I work in the company.

3. There are different types of communication one is the downward type of communication,
where a higher-level of employees communicates through its lower-level employees.
Since the one responsible in the composition of the work ethics of the company are in the
high position their subordinates must see it applied by themselves. In this way, their
actions would influence the group and eventually will be applied by the employees. They
must portray what is in the business ethics to encourage their employees and teach them
what to do when they experience dilemmas on their own. This is the application of non-
verbal communication which is known as the strongest and meaningful way of
communication.
