COURSE ASSESSMENT: REFLECTIVE JOURNAL 20%

Instructions

1. You are required to maintain a reflective journal of your journey through the first five topics of Module 1 only (See Course Outline and Manual).
2. You should write one journal entry per topic.
3. Using the lecture and tutorial sessions as well as any related readings/videos reflect on each topic’s content. As a guide you may include
a. The main concepts/ideas you learned (provide a summary of each concept/idea)
b. Ideas /concepts you did not understand
c. Action you will take to improve your appreciation of the ideas/concepts you did not understand
d. Misconceptions: what you previously thought was true, but now know to be wrong
e. What was new or surprising to you
f. What you changed your mind about
g. One thing you learned that you may be able to use in the future
h. Issues that interested you a lot and that you would like to study in more detail
i. Vocabulary: meaning of at least two key scientific terms
4. Submit your reflection by writing directly into the box located on your tutor’s page section on eLearning. DO NOT submit your reflections using any other method (e.g.: email,
uploaded pdf etc.) Only reflections that are correctly submitted in the boxes provided on your tutor’s page will be graded.
5. Write 400 words per journal entry.
6. Pay close attention to the submission deadlines as you will not be able to submit after the dates and times indicated.
7. References are not mandatory except where you mention additional material not in the course manual or delivered in the lecture. APA style is to be followed where
references are used.
