(one or more Animal Cell,
than one) Plant cell or
both

Cell Wall One outside the cell Plant cell the protective
membrane found outer layer of a
in plants plant cell

plasma membrane One located on the both protect the cell

outside of a cell from its
surroundings

Cytoplasm One includes all of the both contains all

material inside organelles and
the cell and cell parts
outside of the
nucleus

Nucleus One Center of the cell both coordinates the

cell's activities

Nuclear pores More than one nucleus both allow the

transport of
molecules across
the nuclear
envelope

Ribosome More than one found 'free' in both cell structure that
the cytoplasm or makes protein
bound to the ER

Mitochondrion More than one located in the Both Power house of

cytoplasm of cells the cell
along with other
organelles

Methylene blue, Janus green and iodine are stains that you used in your lab work. What cells did you
stain with each one and what cells structures were you able to see after every stain was used?

Methylene blue: Mouth cells (plasma membrane, nucleus and cytoplasm)

Janus green: plant cells (cell wall, chloroplasts, mitochondria)

Iodine: slice of potato (leucoplast)

Anthocyanin experiment. Please answer the questions in page 31.

1. - Because of the effect of temperature on the plant cells.

2. - Lipids become more fluid as temperature goes up so the membranes become more fragile.

3. – To show that temperature plays a part in the damage of the membrane
