School of Merit
Reports have been adjusted to reflect the needs and challenges arising from the COVID- 19
Pandemic.
The schools approach during the online learning programme has been to continue communicating
academic knowledge and skills to ensure that our learners are on track with learning targets for
2020. We have been engaged in continuous assessment of work, where progress is recorded on
an ongoing basis and individualised support is provided where necessary or when assistance is
asked for.
We believe it is not possible to accurately quantify learning with marks for Term 2, as students are
and have been assisted at home. We do acknowledge the value of this support, however, the
accuracy and standardisation of results has been compromised in these instances.
Therefore, only comments relating to a student’s overall perceived achievement, are provided in
this report.
The value of this feedback, in these circumstances, may be far more reliable than a mark, as it is a
more authentic and informative way to provide insight into achievements, new behaviours and
skills learned during these unique times.
In the future there will be diagnostic testing and interventions provided to cover any gaps that may
have been as a result of the disruptive schooling that has taken place over this period.

Comment:
Aryaman has displayed an impressive sense of self-discipline and independence through his participation in our online
learning programme this term. He has embraced our Zoom sessions with enthusiasm and his work has been a
pleasure to view.
Aryaman has quietly listened to instructions provided during our morning lessons and he has used his fluent reading
skills to follow written instructions. This has allowed him to complete all of his tasks accurately. It has been pleasing to
note his confident use of Google classroom. As a result, Aryaman has clearly expressed his knowledge and
understanding of concepts taught.
Aryaman has continued to show his interest and an aptitude for Mathematics.
I so enjoyed witnessing the growth in his confidence. He would ask for extra time or a private Zoom session if he did
not fully understand the work.
I am so proud of Aryaman’s consistent efforts this term and it has been a delight working with him during this online
journey.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank his brother for the support he provided in Aryaman’s academic
progress at home.
My best wishes for a restful and well-deserved break accompany this report. I am looking forward to the day Aryaman
returns to school. We miss his gentle and polite characteristics.
