COURSE DESCRIPTION

Advanced concepts of operating systems are covered in this course.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES

The students are expected to recognize operating system types and structure, describe OS support
for processes and threads, recognize CPU Scheduling, synchronization, and deadlock, describe
algorithms for handling synchronization, deadlock, and failure related to distributed systems, explain
OS support for virtual memory, disk scheduling, I/O, and file systems and identify security and
protection issues in computer systems.

COURSE STRUCTURE

This course is conducted entirely online, which means you do not have to be on campus until
further announcement. You may participate in the course using Zoom Videoconferencing Application

Participation is essential to your success in this class. In online education courses you are
required to participate just as if you were in a face-to-face course. This means that in order to get full
credit for participation, you will have to complete your online group presentation and discussions,
assignments, activities and quizzes on a timely basis. Consistent failure to participate in class will
result in being dropped or failed from the course.
