In the past the Glasgow
Scotties have had a tough time
defeating Colstrip. But that wasn’t
the case Friday night as the Dawgs
demolished the Colts, 54-6, in a
homecoming victory.
Glasgow (6-0, 3-0) will have its
stiffest test tonight when the Dawgs
travel to Malta for a Northern B
contest against the Mustangs. Malta
has only played three games thus far
with only one conference contest,
an 8-6 victory over Conrad. The
Mustangs have a 4-0 overall record
and had their conference game with
Harlem postponed.
Glasgow has been scoring big
wins, with victories by 40 points
or more. But tonight the Dawgs
defense will have to step up and stop
senior quarterback Kooper Oxarart.
The Dawgs have not given up any
more than 12 points in a game.

Frezno mud puddle to get juiced
As of Thursday afternoon, Fresno Reservoir near
Havre was at 15,664 acre-feet, or 16.9 percent capacity
(27.3 feet below full pool) due to the catastrophic failure
of Drop 5 of the St. Mary Canal and Conveyance Works
System .
Water is once again flowing through the system as
of Thursday afternoon. A small amount of work is still
being completed, including seeding work on drop 2 and
drop 5. All work on the current project will be done by
next week, allowing the flow of water to increase to 600
cubic feet/second.
Milk River Joint Board of Control Project Manager
Jennifer Patrick Patrick says this moment is the
culmination of months of hard work, but it’s not over
quite yet.
“It’s kind of one of those pretty cool moments. But
once it gets over the structures, then I’ll take that sigh of
relief and see how our structures do. But I’m confident
the engineering team and the contractors nailed it.
We’re just excited to see them run.”
Patrick says they are projecting that they will be
able to double the current acre footage before having to
turn the system back off at the end of the month.

Rebuttal In Kind- My Opinions/Questions
- And Hard Facts with Verifiable Evidence
Melinda Stewart chose to write about the North
Valley County Water/Sewer District Board and Nick
Chiechi and attack their actions in public meetings.
Ms. Stewart accused these Directors of Lies, Fraudulent
Charges, and Mismanagement. She added that the past
NVCW/S District Manager was honest and ethical and
inferred that Nick Chiechi was not.
My attorney says that Ms. Stewart is entitled to
her opinions. I too have opinions along with verifiable
evidence…signed affidavits, bank records that backup
contracts, purchase orders, and invoices. Additionally,
we have oversight by DEQ, USDA, and other government
agencies and must stay in compliance. All information
is open to the public. The Truth Always Prevails!
I want a cease and desist letter requesting
retractions with apologies and no further besmirching
upon my name and character!
I didn’t want to write about my opinions and
questions, BUT since Ms. Stewart followed up with a
petition to re call Nick Chiechi, I must respond! ….
1. It appears there was a rush to judgement without
asking Nick Chiechi or the Board for information
and justification for their decisions and actions.
2. Did Ms. Stewart have all the facts or was she totally
uninformed?
3. Was she aware of years of mismanagement and
overspending by previous managers? (proven) Aware
that the present Board inherited 2-3 years of undone
repairs? (fact) All is reflected in Bank Records!
(dollars spent) And the present Board inherited and
unstable staff to begin with.

4. Did Ms. Stewart ignore all the many informational
public meetings and information put out by
Montana Rural Water, Dry Prairie Water, Great West
Engineering/Grant writing? Public Rate Hearings?
5. Ignore the many “cost containment” measures taken
by the present Board by Resolution and under the
guidance of Water District attorneys and Montana
Law?...and meetings with Commissioners and
County Attorney?
6. Does Ms. Stewart fully understand the Boards
efforts to secure various Grants to repair and
replace the 60-year-old asbestos cement pipes that
are continually settling and braking…and being
damaged by big old tree roots?
7. Does she understand the main goals of the Districts
Board?.. create a stable staff, repair and replace water/
sewer lines as needed, focus on cost containment,
and build a “Functional and Financially Sustainable”
operation. The mission? Keep the water running
and sewers flowing!
8. FACT: Ms. Stewart self admits to all that her faculties
are limited due to past injuries. QUESTION:
Does her serious physical condition impair her
perceptions and rational thinking? OPINION:
Extend empathy.
CONCLUSION: Ms. Stewart didn’t ask to see
NVCW/S Districts forensic bank audits reflecting
GOOD as well as BAD spending. She did not seek out
ALL the facts and isn’t totally informed. APPEARS: She
rushed to judgment. TRUTH: Human factor, at times
errors are made by Staff or Board which are admitted,
corrected, and we keep moving forward. Just tell the
truth and do the right thing! Open, honest, ethical,
legal…WE TRY!

Homecoming rout continued from front
Idler scored on a 20-yard run with 1:34 to play in the
first quarter. The senior quarterback passed to Tel Aune
for the two-point conversion. Lee had a couple big runs
after the Dawgs took over at the 48. Kyler Hallock also
had two runs and Idler another big pass play to Dawson
Boland.
Colstrip put together its best drive, gaining two first
downs before turning the ball over on downs at the 40
yard line.
After Lee ran the ball to the 44 of Colstrip, it was
Idler taking over and shaking off tacklers to score on a
49-yard run. The Scotties were penalized 5-yards prior to
the score. Idler also ran in the two-point play for a 24-0
lead with 9:13 to play in the half.
Colstrip put together another drive that was aided
by a Glasgow face mask 10-yard penalty. The Dawgs
defense stepped up with senior Ty Kittleson sacking the
Colts quarterback for a 7-yard loss.
The Scotties took over on their own 25 after the
Colts punted the ball away. Lee to twice to get the ball to
the 45, Tatum Hansen had a couple rushes to get the ball
to midfield, and then Idler passed to Ashton Potter for a
35 yard play. Lee capped off the drive with a 3-yard run.
Idler ran in the two-point conversion for a 32-0 lead with
2:41 to play.
The Dawgs got the ball back when Cooper Larson
recovered a Colstrip fumble, setting up Idler’s 15-yard
touchdown pass to Aune with 14 seconds left in the
half. Hallock ran in the two-point conversion for a 40-
halftime lead.
Glasgow made it 48-0 early in the third quarter
when Colten Fast hauled in a pass from Idler for a 5-yard
TD with 8:50 left on the clock. Hallock ran in the two-
point play.
The Colts had another good drive, getting the ball
down to the Glasgow 13 before turning the ball over on
downs. Colstrip gave up two first downs before stopping
the Dawgs on the Colts 11.
Glasgow had a good drive with Hansen running
five times and Dalton Sand rushed three times. Mason
Donaldson completed a pass to Nik Burke to get the ball
to the 11. The Scotties turned the ball over on downs after
an incomplete pass.
Keigan Skolrud intercepted a Colstrip pass,
returning it 11-yards for a touchdown, followed by Sand’s
two-point play after the TD. That gave the Dawgs a 54-0
lead with 7:35 to play in the game.
Colstrip did get a score with 4:28 to play when
Dawson Buckelew plunged in from 2-yards out.
