Part 1- Essay
Being your own boss

It takes courage and will power to take the responsibility of being

self-employed and leaving the familiarity and reliability of a regular
job behind. However, being you own boss provides a potential
lifestyle you may never achieve as employee in terms of work
schedule and decision making.

Undoubtedly, the most appealing perk of running you own business is

the schedule you can make for yourself. You may work for how many
hours you like whenever you want but nevertheless, having the
inevitable level of flexibility requires discipline and accurate time
organisation in order to run a successful enterprise. Balancing work
and family life can be difficult, but it offers you the possibility of
takin time-out when needed.

As a self-employed business owner you have the freedom of calling

the shots. You shape your work according to your purposes and future
ambitions as well as your family’s well-being. Your financial status is
in your hands because you are the only one responsible for the final
outcome. Getting all the profits without having to share them and
feeling the pure sense of self-fulfillment which definitely trump any
fleeting fears of failure are worth the risk of being independent.

The conclusion is clear that these are the most convincing facts of
being self-employed but I personally believe that being able to make
your own decisions outlines everything else.
Part 2-Proposal
Research Project

Introduction
This proposal is for a research project to be funded by one of the
travel grants that you are currently offering students. I am interested
in taking this opportunity, and based on my future research ambitions,
I’m going to present below what my project will imply as well as its
benefits to the society.

Type of research
As far as the nature of this project is concerned, I’m focusing on
carrying out an educational study in the United States regarding high
IQ children as well as what the educational system provides them
with in order to fulfill their academic potential. It is widely known
that these children don’t fit in their age groups, socially and
intellectually, and need special centers in which to outgrow
themselves. Moreover, the government is assumed to do nothing to
help them develop and tend to leave them in the hands of their
parents.

The benefits
I would like for this research project to gather information regarding
these children’s situation and try to improve it by raising awareness
about their situation. It’s not only the children who will benefit from
this, but also the society who can improve its technology and
economy based on their intellectual potential. It would be a waste not
to let them stand out from the crowd and use their gift in order to
enhance the quality of life.

Conclusion
It is my personal belief that by helping these children, we let them use
their birth qualities for something good. I want to carry out this
research project for public awareness and knowledge, that we have to
do better for them.
Part 2- Letter

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing in response to an article which I have come across in one
of your magazines, arguing that national cultural celebrations are not
receiving the wanted attention and are more to do with negative
aspects such as wasted time and money. I wanted to share my
country’s example of a national event as well as its impact over
people and social purpose.

As I need to specify, I am from Romania, a country in the center of

the Europe mostly known for its traditions and historical implications
in the World Wars. The national celebration I want to describe is
history related and it is called “Great Union Day” taking place every
year on the 1st of December and what it does celebrate is the
unification of all the romanian territories. It commemorates a unique
success in our history mostly due to the fact that after so many
centuries of fighting with foreigners coming from outside the borders
we managed to win over our territories and unite our citizens.

As far as the social purpose is concerned, I would like to say that it

commemorates a special day for the country’s history and because we
consider ourselves patriotic, we pay our respect for the ancestors by
celebrating what they have done to bring us where we are today. This
event is carried out by a stunning parade with military forces, police
officers riding horses and political leaders having honorable speeches
in the capital. All the citizens enjoy the festivity by singing the
national anthem and waving flags all over the country.

I hope this information argues the misconceptions of the national

celebrations being not effective nor enjoyable. I look forward to
receiving a reaction to my personal sharing.

Yours faithfully,
Full name
