Lesson Plan Title: ​I like myself/ All about me rainbow

Concept / Topic To Teach: ​Getting students to talk about themselves

Grade Level: ​2nd-5th grade

General Goal(s)/ Objective: ​Students will talk about themselves and share with the class. It will
make the students get to know each other. It would be a good idea for the beginning of the school
year. I also decided, for them to share with one other person because if there is a student who is
shy, they won’t feel pressured to talk in front of the class. I thought the book was a good idea
because it reminds them to be themselves and not want to change anything about themselves. I
think it will create a trusting environment. Also it might help get a students self esteem get
higher.

Required Materials:
● Cloud cut out
● Strips of colorful paper
● Glue
● Markers or colored pencils
● All about me worksheet
● Pencil

Step-By-Step Procedures:
1. First students will watch a video, in which they will get a book read to them, titled, “ I
Like Myself.” ​(5 min)

2. Then we will go over the book and the students will let me know what they thought about
the book. What was the lesson of the book ? ​(2-3 min)

3. They will each get a handout, “All about myself.” Students will fill out paper. ​(2-3 min)

4. I will show students what we will be creating and explain to them the steps while they
work. (​8-10 min)
I. Students will listen to instructions given.
II. Then students will gather supplies: cloud, strips, and markers ( if wanted).
III. Then students will write each of their answers on separate pieces of paper strips.
( Making sure to leave space on one of the ends, of each strip.)
IV. Students will write all their answers, then get glue. They will glue the ends of
each strip to the bottom of their cloud.

5. Student will share with one other person ​(2 min)
