EQUIPMENT SPECIFICTIONS FOR TOILET EXHAUST FANS


12.0. CABINET TYPE DOUBLE SKIN MOUNTABLE TYPE TOILET EXHAUST FANS
SUITABLE FOR

12.1 GENERAL

The scope of this section comprises of supply and installation of Double skin
cabinet type Exhaust air unit with all its accessories conforming to this
specification and in accordance with the relevant drawings.

The Air handling units shall be constructed using double-skinned acoustic panels
with minimum 0.4mm thick pre-coated GSS sheet for outer skin and minimum
0.4mm plain GSS sheet for inner skin of the unit. All the panels shall incorporate
25mm thick PUF insulation sandwiched in between inner & outer skin: the inner
skins can be of perforated sheet in the case of Fan Sections to bring down the
noise level.

The air handling unit’s capacities, fan motor HP, fan static pressure & all other
details are furnished in the equipment schedule & relevant drawings.

The entire unit shall be of sturdy construction to ensure freedom from vibration
while running. All sections shall incorporate access doors/ panels. The hinges
shall be of cast aluminium & handles shall be of pressed steel. Self-lubricated
Nylon sleeves shall be provided. The entire housing shall be mounted on
extruded aluminium channel frame work having pressure die cast aluminium
jointers. All access doors, coil connections etc, shall be provided on one side of
the unit. In other words, access to the other side of the unit should not be
necessary for any purpose what so ever.

Special care shall be taken to ensure that doors, handles, hinges, etc shall be
robust enough to with stand heavy industrial usage. The vibration of the EAU
/VAU fans (as measured on the bearing block after assembly) shall not exceed a
peak-to-peak displacement of 100 microns. For all AHUs, serrated rubber pads
shall be provided for vibration isolation.

12.2 COMPONENTS OF THE AIR HANDLING UNITS

The Exhaust Handling Units shall consist of the following sections for all the air
handling units apart from below listed:

A) Components
a) 400mm Deep empty Section with Outlets having dampers for connecting
exhaust air duct to the unit.
b) Fan Section (should be AMCA Certified)

B) Accessories

a) 1 Set of Vibration Isolators (Rubber Pads) for each Air handling Units.

12.3 FAN SECTION

Fans shall have AMC certification. The ratings which are to be submitted along
with the proposal shall be based on the tests and procedures performed in
accordance with AMCA publication 311 and comply with the requirements of
AMC certified ratings program.

The fan shall be forward curved airfoil blades (please refer technical
requirements) of non overloading characterises, double inlet double with type
(DIDW). The wheel and housing shall be fabricated from heavy gauge galvanized
steel. The fan impeller shall be mounted on a solid shaft supported to housing
with angle iron frame and pillow block heavy-duty ball bearings. Bearings shall
be self-aligning, pillow block type selected for an average life of 200,000 hours at
design operating conditions and shall be provided with grease line extending to
outside of the AHU casing. The impeller & blades shall be selected /designed for
quiet – running. The fan assembly shall be statically & dynamically balanced. A
single impeller for the entire flow rate specified for the unit is preferred. The
bearings shall be mounted on the scroll. Fan shall be driven by or internally unit-
mounted motor connected to fan by V-belt drive. Access panel for easy belt
change shall be provided for internally mounted motors. Belt connected motor
capacity and shall adjustable to provide not less than ± 20% speed variation.

The fan & fan motor shall be assembled on a common frame which shall be
mounted on the floor of the casing with spring vibration isolators. The fan outlet
shall be connected to the casing with fire retardant fabric acting as a flexile
connection to avoid any vibration from the unit on to the ducts. Fan motor shall
be totally enclosed fan-cooled type and shall be suitable for 415V / 3Ph / 50Hz.
Motor shall be sized to provide the additional power requirements when the fan
is operated to provide an additional 20% of the rated capacity. The fan shall be
selected for a noise level less than 65 dB.

12.4 MOTOR & DRIVE

Fan motors shall be suitable for 415 volts, 50 cycles, 3phase, squirrel case, totally
enclosed fan cooled with IP-55 protection. Motor shall be selected for quote
operation and the speed of the motor shall not exceed 1400 RPM. Drive to fan
shall be provided through belt-drive arrangement. Belts shall of the oil-resistant
type. Fan motor shall be suitable for variable speed by variable frequency drive
application.

12.5 SAFETY FEATURES

Each Exhaust Air handling unit shall have safety features as described below, but
not limited to those listed below:

The fan access door shall be equipped with micro-switch inter locked with fan
motor to enable switching off the fan motor automatically in the vent of door
opening. The access door shall be further having wire mesh screen as an added
safety feature bolted on to the unit frame.

Fan and motor base shall be properly earthen from the factory.

All screws used for panel fixing, projecting inside the unit shall be covered with
PVC caps to avoid human injury.

Air handling units shall be selected for the operating noise level of the
equipment. Fan performance rating and power consumption data, with
operating points clearly indicating shall be submitted and verified at the time of
testing & commissioning of the installation.

12.6 PEFORMANCE DATA

Air handling units shall be selected for the lowest operating noise level of the
equipment. Fan performance rating and power consumption data with operating
points clearly indicating shall be submitted and verified at the time of
commissioning of the equipment.

12.7 FACTORY TESTS

The contractor /manufacturer shall describe the tests that will be conducted at
their works on the Air Handling Units. They shall furnish a test certificate /
certificates to the effect that such tests have been duly performed on the AHUs.

Tests shall be conducted on all AHUs at the factory for measurement of delivery
vs. static Pressure, total pressure, BKW, efficiency & noise level at 10%, 80%
60% , 50% & 404 speeds. The Consultants /Project Managers shall be intimated
in advance of the date of the tests, which they will witness at their option.

SPECIFICATION of the SYSTEM & FANS etc.

1. GENERAL

1.1 General Instructions

Supply, installation, testing & commissioning of JetVent System for underground parking
as indicated on the Drawings.

JETVENT FAN UNIT


Composed

The fan should be furnished as factory assembled. Having characteristic as high


performance of ventilation with small air volume. Each unit shall consist of inlet bell
mouth with protective screen, silencer both inlet and outlet discharge nozzle, terminal
box and mounting arm.

Fan

A unique high efficiency Aerofoil section blade shall have smoothed hub and clam- plate
for adjustable pitch angle flexibility. The impellers shall be of precision die-cast to offer
thin Aerofoil sections for low generation of noise levels. Every cast aluminium
component shall be X-rayed using Real Time Radiography inspection prior to assembly.
This feature shall provide evidence

of casting quality against product liability legislation if specified.

Aerofoil Fan impellers shall have a unique aerodynamic section blade to optimise the
efficiency of performance and minimise the generation of noise.

The thin sections shall be obtained by precision die cast manufacturing techniques to
have a lighter weight assembly.

Precision die cast aluminum hub and clamp-plate shall be equally spaced, fully
adjustable, high pressure die cast Aerofoil section blades.

All rotating aluminum components shall be X-ray examined prior to machining to assure
quality and suitable for operation at 300 Deg C for one hour. And certified by BSRIA,UK
as per BSEN 12101-3-2002 for high temp performance.

CASINGS :

Either a long cased form complete with an externally mounted pre-wired electrical
terminal box, or short cased for duct or plate installation.
Casings are spun from sheet steel with integral pre-drilled flanges, fully welded
seams and hot-dipped galvanised after manufacture for excellent
durability.

MOTORS :
Squirrel cage type, insulated to class H, bearings lubricated with wide temperature
grease, keyed shaft. To comply with BS5000 Pt 99 and IEC 34-a, Weatherproof to IP55.
(Overheat protection shall be provided on most single phase motors).

2 Speed operation by Delta/Star reconnection available on most three phase motor up-
to frame size F22. Two speeds can be obtained by reconnecting a single winding via six
winding terminals to give two separate pole numbers Integral pre-wired capacitor on
most single phase fans.

DUAL WOUND
This type of motor has two separate individual windings of the requisite poles to give
the speeds required.

Performance shall be independently approved by AMCA, and established in


accordance with ISO5801:1997 installation category D, method of testing air
performance and BS848 Pt 2 1985 method of noise testing.

4 DISCHARGE NOZZLE

The nozzle shall be made of aluminum round shaped aerodynamically and finished with
polishing coat.

SILENCER (INLET AND OUTLET)

Silencer casing is made of 1.0 mm thickness and 710 mm long (min)of cold mill steel. It
is baked enamel coated on outside casing. Inside of casing shall be contained 25 mm
thickness glass wool and finish with punched stainless steel sheet.

INLET BELL MOUTH

The bell mouth is made of aluminum 3003 and transparent paint coated. It is Shaped to
reduce air turbulence in the inlet of the fan.

7. PROTECTIVE BIRD SCREEN

The screen shall be circle screen , made of chrome coated.

TERMINAL BOX
The box shall be equipped with high temperature type indication lamp The wire to the
motor shall be enclosed with fiberglass tube for fire protection. It shall be sealed with
fire rated sealant and all internal wiring and components tested by PSB to BS 7346
Part2.

10. MOUNTING ARM

Mounting arm shall be permitted adjustment of the air stream, discharge of 180
degree angle horizontally and 90 degree of vertically.

11. ACOUSTIC DATA

The sound levels quoted shall be based on tests shall be carried out by the
manufacturer in in-house certified laboratory by AMCA and British Standards by using
the spectrum corrections stated on each performance chart, an un-weighted sound
power spectrum shall be obtained for the fan.

12. NON-OVERLOADING

The fans shall have a non-overloading characteristic; the peak power input occurs
within the range of normal operating pressures and is always exceeded by the motor
rating.

13. TESTING

Performance data has been obtained in accordance with the internationally recognized
standard – ISO5801:1997 installation category D (AMCA approved) for aerodynamic
performance and BS848 Part 2 (1985)
for acoustic performance.

14. FIXINGS

All fixings are protected with an organically based zinc coating to provide
excellent corrosion resistance.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

The Aerofoil fans shall be licensed to bear the AMCA seal based on tests and
procedures performed in accordance with AMCA Publication 211 and comply with the
requirements of the AMCA Certified Ratings Program.
Quality Assurance for design and manufacturing should be Register to BS EN ISO
9001.94,

The manufacturer should own laboratory which is British Standard and AMCA
accredited for aerodynamic performance are identified by the AMCA Seal on the
appropriate characteristic curves(s)

The jet fans should be fitted with IP 55 motors as a standard and should come with 2
years ex-works warranty.

All JETVENT fans shall be supplied for a one off emergency operation at temperatures
up to 200 Deg C for 2 hours (H.T. Category 200/2). And 300 Deg C for one hour.

This facility should be independently certified by the Loss Prevention Certification,


Board (LPCB), Certificate number 386a Issue
