Introduction

According to the internet, load flow analysis is the method of computing the correct amount of

steady-state voltage at all the electrical nodes of a load condition.

Load flow analysis aims to determine the voltages, currents, real ad reactive powers and even

the power factor of a system under a given load condition.

Purpose

Load flow analysis can provide a balanced steady operation state of the power system,

without considering system transient processes. And it was helpful for planning ahead and

account various scenarios for a system such as future load expansions.

Methods of Load Flow Analysis

To properly analyze a load condition of a system, we should know circuit diagram, the

impedance of each line (Zline), the load at each load bus (S = P + jQ) and the capability of each

generator (P, V).

On the other hand, what we are trying to find are the output of each generator (S), the

voltage at each bus (V = V∟Ø), the power flow on each line (P flow) and the power losses (Ploss =

3I2Z).

1. According to what I understood during the discussion, the very first step in the load flow

analysis is to collect all the values given in the system.

2. The next step is to find all the per unit values of the actual values you have found in the

first step.

3. After finding all the per unit values, you must compute for the total current of the single

line diagram (SLD).

4. Next, you have to draw the equivalent generated impedance diagram with all the per

unit values you have solved.

5. The last step is to bring the total impedance back to its actual value and then find actual

bus voltage you want to find.

Example:

Insert 50kvar and do not remove the 450kvar, lumped load 2 then system calculate the

latest power factor.
