    Standard Summary

    Standard 6: Professional Capacity of School Personnel

    “Effective educational leaders develop the professional capacity and practice of school personnel

    to promote each student’s academic success and well-being.” This standard was met by

    participating in the following activities.

     Standard Activity 6.29B: For this activity, I led a discussion with my fellow teachers on

    teacher evaluations. We discussed the effectiveness of teacher evaluations, what they

    need out of these evaluations, and what could be changed. It was very eye opening to

    listen to teachers with different levels of experience discuss evaluations.

    Key Learnings from the Experience

    From this experience, I learned that teacher evaluations can make a bigger impact on

    teachers than what administrators may realize. The evaluations can make or break a first year

    teacher and that needs to be considered when completing them.

    Area(s) Needing Further Experience and Improvement

    I would like to see a teacher evaluation be completed and learn how to do observations in

    the least obtrusive way possible. I would like to also improve on how I handle my own

    evaluations and opening up to constructive criticism more.
