LIFE FROM A WHEELCHAIR

 What does Ashley do for a living?


She is a Singer at the university where she studies general communication

 How does her condition affect her daily activities and how does
she deal with it?
It affects her getting to general communication classes on time because
she finds it a bit more difficult to drive in a wheelchair, so she cannot
drive as fast, however she tries to get to the university fifteen minutes
before classes start

• What is your attitude towards life? Do you feel incapable of certain


activities?
She is very positive so she always looks for a solution to the difficulties
that arise.
Although she knows that there are things that are difficult for her, she
feels capable of doing them, she admits that she cannot run and that she
would like to do them.
If she did not have the support of her family, she would not have learned
to defend herself.
If she felt incapable, she wouldn't risk trying to have a normal life.

 How would your life be different if you were handicapped and


had to use a wheelchair? What would be different for you?
If I were in a wheelchair I would have to change apartments, because
there are many stairs, I would have to adapt the kitchen and bathroom.
If you were in a wheelchair, you would have to go anywhere in advance.
if i were in a wheelchair i would miss walking, so i would feel sad at first.
If I were in a wheelchair, I would look for new activities and thus distract
myself.
If I were in a wheelchair, I would look for a support group to feel
accompanied.
If I were in a wheelchair I would not give up and seek my happiness.

 How do you react when you have to interact with a handicapped


person?
When I interact with a disabled person, I react in a friendly way. I try to
be very nice to that person and help him with whatever he needs,
encouraging him to try new things so that he feels very happy and
comfortable.
 How can you contribute to improve the life of handicapped
people?
I can contribute to improve the lives of people with disabilities by helping
them face reality from a positive perspective, I am a psychology student
and my goal is always to be able to help, I would provide free therapies to
people who need it
