3 Site informations

For site informations refer to project document:

00250600BGSG09005 Site and climatic condition

3.1 MOD Project coordinates

The list of Project relevant coordinate parameters are the following:

• Projection: Universal Transverse Mercator - Zone 38 N
• Spheroid: Clarke 1880
• Latitude: N from 42° to 48°
• Longitude: W from 312° to 318°.

It is to be noted that in order to transform the coordinates system into the Project coordinate
system WGS 84, is still missing the information about the datum.
For this reason it is not possible to identify the locations and allow the transformation in the WGS
84 datum used for the project.

It is assumed that among different possibilities, the most approximate transformation parameters
is the ones relevant to
• Datum D: Nahrwan 1967- (Qatar zone).

Hence, geographic transformation has been carried out using the geocentric translation method
using the following parameters:

dx= -250.2 dy=-153.09 dz=391.7

In any case residual shifting (with random components) are found, by photo-interpretation on
georeferenced images, when the system is transformed in WGS 84 (UTM 38N).
The methodology for location of wellheads on project maps is defined on document:

areas of thick vegetation or where the height of the underlying terrain cannot be easily
distinguished, the accuracy of the final DTM cannot be guaranteed.

At last, data used to create the mosaic imagery will have been collected by the satellite on
different dates, each with different sensor viewing angles. Whilst we will do our best to create
a near seamless mosaic of the data some image mismatching will occur. This is the result of
the different look angles of the sensor and additional complications such as topography,
seasonal variation and sun angle (resulting shadow).

4.3.2 Digital Elevation Model (DEM)

and Digital Terrain Model (DTM) of the overall contractual Zubair Oil Field area with a resolution of
2m.

Routing activity of existing pipelines has been based, at present, on photointerpretation of satellite
images and on the time (date) on which they are taken, COMPANY instructions (MOD -
MODIFICATION ROUTING 19 07 2020) ref [21]. Site verification and planned surveys in next phase
will implement and update the actual level of information for final routing.

Further and improved design level especially starting and ending point, such as final location of
pipelines , existing site facilities appach and final layout of plant that could modify the pipelines
route.

Pipeline shall be routed considering the shortest connection length; however when profitable the
pipeline shall be routed preferably in parallel to existing oil/gas pipelines and other linear service
(roads, railways, channels, etc.) in order to optimize the land use.

 to lay the new pipeline aside preferential corridors or linear infrastructures (pipelines or
roads) existing in the affected country when these ones have favourable direction.

 to run the new pipeline as far as possible from:

o dwellings/ public centres in order to minimize the possible impact on people

o areas where are carried out activities which could cause adverse affected on the new
flowlines and trunklines in order to minimize them.

Clearance shall be adopted for this purpose in routing development.

When pipeline is planned to be built in the same work phase of an existing pipeline route, the design
activities will assume that they will be laid in the same trench, when construction phasing will be
defined this issue shall be reconsidered. Clearance shall be 0,5 m for small size and 1,0 m large
diameter.

5 Crossings and special points

The crossings of roads, infrastructures and water streams shall be reduced, in terms of numbers
and affected crossed length as much as possible.
The crossing of areas that appear with high water table, or where soil erosion due to groundwater
effect, shall be minimized as much as possible.

Crossings of rivers, canals and streams shall be designed to ensure integrity of the pipeline under
all conditions of the water flow. The minimum depth of cover shall be 1.5 m below the calculated
scour depth. For the major river crossings the actual depth of cover shall be determined through
the Detailed Engineering Phase field and office prepared hydrological investigations.
It shall be advisable if pipeline is constructed on diferent material than CS to use upstream and
downstream of major Crossing (Water Canal, Railroad and motorway) Isolating Valve´s Concrete
Pits to ensure mitigation measures in case of rupture or pipeline failure under the major Crossing.

In case crossing of existing structutures where open cutting is not advisable (i.e. Water Canal,
Railroad , motorway and main asphalt roads), for all pipeline with size diam.<16", trenchless
methodology is considered (i.e. Horizontal Drilling).
Trenchless crossing of large diameter pipeline >16” (i.e. export pipeline) shall be performed by
installation of adequate casing pipe to house the carrier pipeline.

6 Pipeline data

6.1 Battery limits

Pipelines:

The present document deal with the pipeline defined as the “off plot” section included between
the flanges of insulating Valves Pits at each Existing Facility (i.e DGS North , Hammar IPF). These
concrete valves pits shall be located outside the facilities adjacents to their fencing system.

7 Pipeline Sizing

Pipeline stress verification and constructability consideration will be given to selection of the pipe
wall thickness to prevent pipe buckling and collapsing during installation and operation.
Basically, the pipe-wall thickness for CS Pipelines is designed on pressure containment
requirement (para 403.2.1 of ASME B31.4 and para 841.1.1(a) of B31.8) taking into account of
the specified Design Factor.
As per applicable Code requirement, WT sizing is carried out using DF 0,72 for the pipelines in
all cross country section and DF 0,6 for main road crossing.

Both ASME B31.4 and B31.8 require the calculated wall thickness (as mentioned above), shall
satisfy the stress-analysis requirements (or flexibility analysis) in section 402 and section 833,
respectively.

As for stress analysis verifications, the following effects are taken into account for longitudinal
stresses:

• internal pressure,
• own weights,
• temperature difference between pipeline operation and construction,
• external loads that can result on the pipeline.

Other longitudinal stress arising on the pipeline for laying on curved profile of bottom trench is
considered together with the other internal and external loads.

As required by applicable codes, nominal and corroded pipe size is considered for combined
stress calculations.

Combined stress check taking into account of the bending stress due to a practical value of
minimum bending radius for laying in large-curved trench bottom profile, will be performed and
WT increased when necessary.

As concern the trunklines a length of 50 m before plant approaches has been considered with a
DF 0,6 for WT sizing.

For the case of HDPE Pipelines folloowing standards will be applied:

 EN 12201-2
 ASTM 4710
 ISO 4427

For the case of DI Pipelines folloowing standards will be applied:

 BSEN 545
 ISO 2531
 ISO 10803

7.1 Pipeline bending

The pipeline vertical and horizontal direction changes are carried out with “bent pipe section” to
fit the pipeline route and could be fabricated in different way as follows:

Elastic Bends

Where possible changes in direction shall be made using elastic bends. The minimum elastic
bend radius will be calculated based on the maximum permissible combined stress as per ASME
B 31.4 and B.31.8. Bending stresses due to elastic bending shall be considered additive to
circumferential and longitudinal pressure and thermal stresses.

Field Cold Bends

The minimum allowable radius for cold bends (field cold bending machine bends) shall not be less
than 40 times the nominal diameter of pipe. The bend shall be fabricated in the construction yard,

and they are exactly defined during pipe stringing. Suitable cold bending machine has to be
employed by Construction Contractor.

Pre-fabricated Bends (hot induction bends)

The minimum bend radius shall be 5 or 7 times the Nominal diameter of the pipe.

Detail design drawing will indicate each location of prefabricated bend that are purchased in
advance. Prefabricated bends are specified, attention will be paid in the cases where the bent
pipeline could create stress problem of behaviours for thermal and pressure displacements and
soil restraint action at the bend.
Straight extension of the bends shall be 1.2 m (1 DN) for the large diameter pipe and 0.5 m for
pipeline less than 16”.

7.2 Cathodic protection

The corrosion protection of buried carbon steel pipelines from environmental corrosion shall be
achieved by means of a proper coating supplemented by impressed current CP system(s).
Cathodic protection (CP) system(s) shall be designed and installed to protect buried off-plot
pipelines from environmental corrosion, either through impressed current or sacrificial anodes
CP application. The CP design shall be developed according to Doc. No. 00250600BERB47000
"CP BASIS OF DESIGN".

7.3 External coating

The coating and paint systems shall comply with the requirements of the following Eni Functional
Specifications:
- 20550.PIP.COR.FUN
- 20553.PIP.COR.FUN
Pipelines shall follow project recommnedations refer to document number 00252100DLST00160
- “Specification for External Coation of Buried Pipelines “

7.4 Onshore line pipe depth of cover

Pipeline shall be buried for its whole length.

In general, minimum requirement for depths of cover relevant to oil pipelines are defined in EN
14161, however considering the category of the pipeline under design, the adoption of a minimum
standard cover increased at least to a dimension equal to a pipeline diameter, is advisable.

The table below summarizes the minimum cover guidelines to be applied to the pipeline:

Location Minimum Cover (m)

Standard cross country 1.0
Rocky areas 0.9
Special cases
- Closeness to populated and areas
- Presence of buried infrastructure in the
surrounding
1.5
- Agricultural areas where heavy
equipment could operate
Waterway crossings 1.5
Road crossing 1.5

Where there is an increased risk of damage or interference from third parties, additional protective
measures shall be adopted. Protection could be one or more of the following:

- Additional depth of cover

- Pipeline marker tape
- Protective concrete slabs or mass concrete
- Increased pipe wall thickness
- Concrete coating

These design allocations will be identified on the pipeline alignment sheets.

Crossings of rivers, canals and streams shall be designed to ensure integrity of the pipeline under
all conditions of the water flow. The minimum depth of cover shall be 1.5 m below the calculated
