This paper entitled “The Analysis Meaning of Hyphenated Compound

Words in the Novel Trumpet Major”. One of the Morphological Study. This paper

is a solution for readers to understand the meaning of the word, especially the

hyphen compound word.

This study has not only to provide more information to readers who

experience problems in understanding about hyphenated compound word but also

to provide insights and knowledge for readers to make better. This study was

structured to find out what problems the readers had in reading novel or other text.

I hope it will trigger all the readers who would like understanding

hyphenated compound word. I am aware that this paper is far from perfect.

Therefore, for the improvement of this writing, suggestions and recommendations

will be highly appreciated.

ABSTRACT

This paper entitled “The Analysis Meaning of Hyphenated Compound

Words in the Novel Trumpet Major”. One of the Morphological Study. The main
object that the writer discusses in this paper to discuss the hyphenated compound
word in the trumpet major novel and also the meaning contained within. The
purpose of this study is to determine the hyphenated compound word in this
novel, to determine the kinds of hyphenated compound word and also the
meaning contained in the hyphenated compound word. The research method used
is descriptive analysis method, starting with collecting data with note-taking
techniques which are then analyzed according to each group. These data are only
taken from the Trumpet-Major novel. The results of this study indicate that the
hyphenated compound word is influenced by the formation of word classes from
the combination of words so that it affects their meaning.
