WK7: Knowledge Profile: Comprehension of the role of engineering in society and identified
issues in engineering practice in the discipline: ethics and the professional responsibility of an
engineer to public safety; the impacts of engineering activity: economic, social, cultural,
environmental and sustainability.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course covers the fundamentals of engineering ethics, Sustainable Development and finance
in the working environment. These include the implementation act and regulation for engineer in
Malaysia such Professionalism and Codes of Ethics, Employment Act, law of contract,
Employment Act, Bankruptcy Act, Cyber Law and SPRM. The course also covers the
Engineering Ethics and Crisis Management. Besides that, the course also emphasizes on
Sustainable Development, Economic sustainability, Environmental sustainability, engineering
economic and Financial Management for Engineers will also be covered. The lectures are
academic staff with industrial experience. The invited external speakers from various professional
engineering backgrounds will be invited for exposure to engineering practice
