DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS

GRADE IV

I. OBJECTIVES:

At the end of 45 minutes, with 80% proficiency level the pupils are
expected to do the following:

a. Describe how to find the Greatest Common Factor

b. Create an own problem regarding finding Greatest Common Factor
c. Explain the implications of Greatest Common Factor to real life
situation

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: GREATEST COMMON FACTOR

References: Grade IV Mathematics Book
Materials: Laptop, Cards, DLP, Grading Cards
Strategy: Peer Experimental Learning Strategy
Educational Theory: Constructivism
Technology: Mindomo
Instructional Model: Bloom’s Taxonomy

III. PROCEDURE

Teacher’s Activities Pupils’ Activities

A. Preliminary Activities

a. Prayer
- _______, please lead the prayer

- The pupil will pray

b. Greetings
- Good morning class

- Good morning ma’am

c. Opening Song/ Energizer
- Let sing the song “ Ping Pong
Ball “

d. Checking of the Attendance - The pupil will sing

- Are all present today?

`
e. Setting of classroom standards - Yes/ No Maam

- What are the needs to be

followed when the class is going - Our classroom rules that needs
on? to be follow are listen carefully
and raise your right hand if you
want to answer

- What else?
- Sit properly ma’am

- Can I expect all of that from

you? - Yes Ma’am
f. Checking/ Passing of Assignments

- Please bring out your

assignments and pass it to the
center aisle.
- The pupils’ will pass their
assignments

g. Review

- Let see if you can still remember

our lesson last meeting

- What was our lesson yesterday?

- Our lesson yesterday was all

about Prime Factorization

- What is the process of solving

prime factorization

- The process of solving prime

factorization are , first divide the
numbers by the first prime number
and continue dividing until you get
the last prime factors, the second
get the product of the last prime
number.

B. Lesson Proper

a. Motivation
- Today we will be having an
activity entitled “List Up”. I will you
group you into two groups, the first
row will be the Team A, and second
row will be the Team B.
- I have prepared here a Venn
diagram. Inside the diagram are two
numbers. What you’re going to do
is to think of a numbers that are
factors of the two numbers given.
- Write the difference on the left
and right and the similar factors at
the center
- You will be given 5 minutes to
do the activity

- The pupils’ will do so

- What did you observe on the
numbers written on the Venn
diagram?

- We observe that they are all

prime numbers
- If we will multiply the numbers
written on similarities, would the
product can be factors of both
numbers?
- Yes

- Is the product of all similarities

the largest common factor of both
numbers?
- Yes

b. Introduction of the New Lesson

- Based on our activity, what do

you think is our lesson for today?

- Based on our activity, I think our

topic for today is all about how to
get the Greatest Common Factor

- This morning we will know more

about the process on how to get the
Greatest Common Factor (GCF) of
a certain numbers and I want you to
know our lesson objective for today.

c. Activity Proper
- To know more about how to get
the Greatest Common Factor
(GCF) we will have another activity
entitled”
- With same group, select your
leader, secretary, and reporter.

Instructions:
Given the numbers in each group, list all
the factors and make use of tree method
to find the GCF of each given numbers.
- I will show you the process of
how to get the GCF using the tree
method through presentation and
after that you will start to do your
task.
- You will be given 15 minutes to
perform the activity and then your
chosen reporter will present your
output following the rubrics of
today’s activity.
- Here are the rubrics for this
activity.

Criteria Team A Team B

a. Discussion

d. Activity1/ Reporting

b. (The clarification of
misconceptions, and additional
information)
- What have you done to make
your activity easily done?
- To make our task easily done,
each of the members are cooperate

- It is important to observe
cooperation during the activity?

- Yes, it is important to observed

cooperation

A. Closure Activity
a. Generalization
- How can we get the Greatest
Common Factor of a numbers

- To find the GCF of each

numbers, list all the prime factors of
each numbers and multiply those
factors both numbers have in
common. If there are no common
factors then the GCF is 1.
- What method can we use to
easily get the Greatest Common
Factor?

- We can use the tree method to

easily get the GCF of the numbers

b. Application
- In 5 minutes, I want you to
make your own 3 problem
regarding finding GCF and show
your solution on how did you get
their GCF using tree method.
- Work independently

- The pupils’ will do so

c. Valuing
- What do you think is the
implication of finding GCF in real
life situation?
- We can use GCF when we
wanted to determine the way how
can we distribute something into
equal, and most importantly
knowing how to get GCF is very
useful in applying to different math
operations like ratio, fractions, and
simplifying

IV. Evaluation

Word Problem: Read each question carefully and think about what the question
is asking. Solve the problem using the tree method process.
1. Kamal has 6 cans of regular soda and 15 cans of diet soda. He wants to create
some identical refreshment tables that will operate during the American football
game. He also doesn't want to have any sodas left over. What is the greatest
number of refreshment tables that Kamal can stock?

2. 4. For a dinner party, Abraham is creating individual servings of starters. He has

9 carrot sticks and 18 celery sticks. If he wants each serving to be identical, with
no food left over, what is the greatest number of servings Abraham can create?

3. To encourage public transportation, Russom wants to give some friends

envelopes with bus tickets and subway tickets in them. If he has 18 bus tickets
and 12 subway tickets to split equally among the envelopes, and wants no tickets
left over, what is the greatest number of envelopes Russom can make?

V. Assignment

show how to solve it.
