Adjectives with Prepositions


*An adjective is a word that describes a noun.
-Example : -She is a beautiful girl.
- It is a delicious pizza.
-He is an intelligent student.

*A preposition is a word that connects a noun or a pronoun to other words in the sentence.

*Common prepositions are : in / on / at / about / by / with………

-Example : Anna is good at painting.

*Adjectives with prepositions tell us how we feel about something.

A. Circle the adjective and underline the preposition in the following sentences.

Simple Present and Simple Past Tenses

*A verb is a word that describes an action in a sentence .


Example : play / eat / run / jump……

Simple Present Tense


*When an action often, usually, or always happens,it is in the present tense.

*Add “ –s” to the verb whose subject is she, he, or it or a noun that replaces one
of them.
-Shadi wears a thick coat in winter.

*Add “-es” if the verb ends in x,sh,s,ch,z, or o


-Nancy brushes her teeth twice a day.

*Keep the verb in its base form with plural nouns /pronouns.
-They wear heavy coasts in winter.
-People in my neighborhood wash their cars every morning.

*If the verb ends with a consonant and y, change y to I and add –es.
-Sereena studies hard before she plays every day .
A. Write the correct present form of verbs in parentheses.

Simple Past Tense

*Past tense verbs describe actions that happened in the past and finished.
*Simple past tense can be either regular or irregular.

1. Regular verbs: all regular verbs add –ed in the simple past tense .
Example: played / visited / cooked……

2. Irregular verbs : an irregular verb does not end in –ed when changed to the past tense. It
changes completely.
Example :
eat = ate run = ran go= went do= did
