ASSESSMENT

Give situations related to each theoretical framework.

1. Socialist Feminism
A woman is deemed as low if she is working on a company. Often times women are less
likely to get promoted in hierarchal companies or jobs, as compared to men. Women devote
themselves for things like pregnancy and raising their family but they are often times
overlooked especially by men.
2. Social Constructionism
Eugene broke his car so he walked on the way to school. When he arrived at school, he
immediately complained to his classmates how he had to walk instead of using his car. While
hearing this, Lloyd thought about how he had never had a car and had always walked to school
since he was in grade school. Lloyd belonged to a big family that had bigger needs that’s why
they never thought of buying a car as a necessity. Lloyd thinks Eugene is cool, but he thinks he
is a little spoiled. Eugene’s experiences and observations made him think that having a car is a
necessity. This is why having a broken car gave him inconvenience. And that is Eugene’s reality.
Meanwhile, Lloyd’s experiences and interactions made him think that a car isn’t really needed.
Based on his reality, cars are deemed as expensive and is usually owned when you already have
a job. Having a car is a luxury, and isn’t a necessity because public transportation can also be
used. This is Lloyd’s reality. Both men construct and rationalizes her reality through her social
experiences with others.
3. Standpoint Theory
Some people feel and believe that they are inferior because of the culture and lifestyle
they had while growing up. An example is people with special needs and disability feel like they
cannot do more with themselves regardless of their disability. Comparably, Women had to
experience things like menstruation and pregnancy, and unjust treatment in workplace and
society. Women commit themselves for these things yet they are often never understood and
appreciated especially by men. Their sacrifices and hard work are never recognized by men
because men never go through these experiences. There is a standpoint differences which
causes marginalization of women. But, women are believed to have a better outlook and
standpoint compared to men, as they see more of the world than men because of their
struggles.
