MODULES 3B: LEARNING RESOURCES

LESSON 1: LEARNING RESOURCES MAPS FOR DISTANCE LEARNING

ACTIVITY 1.

1. Based on the map, what resources should you have in order to implement the LDM adopted by
your School/Division?
Answer:
The Digos City Division adopted the Blended Learning. Particularly, Balabag National
High School adopted the Modular Distance Learning with Radio-Based Instruction. For
Modular we have the printed SLM (worksheets). For Radio-Based Instruction we have
radio unit and printed SLM (worksheets).

2. Do you have the complete resources for the Distance LDM needed in class? If the LRs are not
complete or not available, what steps will you make these available? What are the options to
substitute these missing LRs?
Answer:
As for the moment, there are still lacking resources for math 7. But the Division of Digos
City prepared necessary worksheets based on MELC prior to the opening of classes last
October 2020 to be used for the first quarter of the school year for our learners while
waiting for the complete SLM resources from the National.

3. What support will you need to maximize the use of the two DepEd-sanctioned LR Portals? From
whom can you get this support?
Answer:
For me, more updated webinars, seminars, or workshops and updated LRs.

4. Based on your evaluation of the materials, are they appropriate to the level and characteristics of
learners? Are these learners who might be disadvantaged by the materials (based on reading
activity, level of learning independence, level of household support, distance)? What adjustments
will you make in terms of the LRs?
Answer:
Yes, they are appropriate since they are based on the K to 12 curriculum and now the Most
Essential Learning Competencies (MELC).
Since students are diverse and learn in different ways and styles, to some it would be
disadvantage to our learners with poor reading and comprehension as well as those lack of
technical ability and the resource in manipulating the LRs. And it would be advantage of
course, to our learners with good reading and comprehension as well as techy enough and
resource available to use the LRs.

ACTIVITY 2.

(LAC Session)

Insights:

“By sharing our gathered additional learning resource materials, we have discussed which
materials would be appropriate for our learners and making it sure that the materials are align
with the MELCs.”

LESSON 2: ACCESSING LEARNING REOURCES FROM DepEd PORTALS

ACTIVITY 1.

Establish access to the following portals:

1. LRMDS Portal
2. DepEd Commons

1. Given the LDM adopted in your School, how can the two DepEd portals respond to your LR
needs and those of your learners? How do they complement the LRs that you already have?
Answer:
The LDM adopted by our school are Blended Learning particularly, Modular Distance
Learning with Radio-Based Instruction. The Digos City Division assigned worksheets
writers to prepare the worksheets or the SLM prior to the opening of classes to be use by
our learners for the first quarter of the current school year. Of course, the DepEd portal
was a great help for the teachers as well as learners that can access the portals for
additional learning resources.

2. What are the challenges in accessing the LRs in the portals both for you and your learners? How
will you overcome these challenges?
Answer:
The challenges would be the technical ability specially for those students’ lived-in far-flung
areas, available gadgets, and devices to used, and having the internet access to fully utilized
the portal. Although the DepEd has now DepEd Commons offline but still cannot suffice the
needs since it is still limited to some topic or lesson only.
3. What support will you need to be able to maximize the use of the LR Portals? From whom can
you get this support?
Answer:
For me, to maximize the use of LR Portals, teachers should be prepared and capacitated to
keep up with the modernity-related teaching or should have the skills and ability with the
assistance of ICT coordinators and colleagues in managing and navigating the LR.

ACTIVITY 2.

(LAC Session)

Insights:
“We can support each other in using LR Portals through organizing professional development
activities to enhance our skills in utilizing the portals. It may be coaching, formal training and through
LAC Sessions.”

LESSON 3: ASSESING THE LR MATERIALS

ACTIVITY 1.

RAPID ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING RESOURCES

Is the LR Material... YES NO Cannot be determined

1. Connected and relevant to the

MELCs?

2. Appropriate to the grade level and

learner characteristics in terms of
language, activities?

3. Easy to reproduce and/or

disseminate?

4. From a credible source/author?

5. Culture- and gender-fair?

6. Free from red flags on possible

copyright and plagiarism issues?

7. The layout and format easy to read

and pleasing to the eyes?

1. Was the material able to meet all the requirements?

Answer:
Yes, because the materials are MELC based.

2. Where there any questions in the assessment tool where you answered “No” or “Cannot Be
Determined”? What decision will you make on the LR material? Why?
Answer:
None. I will utilize and make used of it for my students since our Division provides the Self
Learning Materials.

3. Are there other aspects of the materials not covered by the tool but still need to be assessed?
Specify which aspect/s?
Answer:
For me, in terms of localization.

4. How does the exercise help you in picking the right and appropriate LRs for your lesson and your
learners?
Answers:
The available learning materials were appropriate and relevant to my learners.

ACTIVITY 2.
RAPID ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING RESOURCES (non-DepEd LR portals)

Is the LR Material... YES NO Cannot be determined

1. Connected and relevant to the

MELCs?

2. Appropriate to the grade level and

learner characteristics in terms of

3. Easy to reproduce and/or

disseminate?

4. From a credible source/author?

5. Culture- and gender-fair?

6. Free from red flags on possible

copyright and plagiarism issues?

7. The layout and format easy to read

and pleasing to the eyes?

1. Based on the Assessment Tool, how does the material from a non-DepEd Portal compare with the
LR from DepEd Portal?
Answer:
The teaching and learning resources from the DepEd portal are K to 12 Curriculum based
in various formats while the non-DepEd Portals requires you to contextualize some content.

2. Based on the results of the Assessment Tool, what improvements do the materials – both from
DepEd and Non-DepEd portals – still need?
Answer:
The DepEd LRs were developed to ensures that all learning resources uploaded are align to
the curriculum requirements and have been subjected to rigid quality assurance standards
before publishing to be utilized by teachers and learners.
The non-DepEd portals needs to evaluate thoroughly to be align with the most essential
learning competencies.

3. How does this exercise help you in picking the right and appropriate LRs for your lesson and
your learners?
Answer:
For me, it is a great assistance in identifying the most relevant LRs to be used that would
help our learners gain more understanding on the topics or lessons.

ACTIVITY 3.

1. How does your material compare with the ones that are obtained from the online portals?
Answer:
The materials I develop were based on the needs of my students.

2. What improvements do you still need to make in your developed material?

Answer:
I need to develop quality instructional materials that suits with the ability and capability of
my students while adopting with the new trend or environment of teaching.

ACTIVITY 4.

(LAC Session)

Insights:

“The adaptation and utilization of DepEd Commons and LR Portal are of great assistance to us
teachers to make our preparation easier.”
