Good morning class! Have an of ou ever broken a bone? If someone sa s es, ask Which bone did ou
break? Did ou break an arm bone or a leg bone? Toda we are going to learn a song to help ou remember
the different t pes of bones in our bodies and which bones are connected.
1. Introduce the song. Pla about a minute of it. Ask them to listen for what instruments are being
pla ed.
2. Ask students what instruments the think are being used in the song.
3. Listen to the song a second time.
4. Talk about the instruments used in the song. Focus on the (maracas, vibraslap, and tambourine).
When the skeleton is shaking the instrument being pla ed is a vibraslap.
5. Listen for the third time. Ask students to listen and point to the bones on their bodies. 6. Ask
them if the know the scientific names for the knee and the thigh bone. Teach them what the
kneecap is called the patella and the thigh bone is called the femur.
7. Assign students roles for participating in the ne t pla ing of the song. Those who have
something to shake like homemade maracas will shake after the song sa s shake those
skeleton bones and when the song sa s what bone connects with what. Those who don t will do
the skeleton dance where the stand up and move each part of their bod that has the bone
being described and point to it and will shake their whole bod when the maracas shake.
8. Listen while participating in the skeleton dance and shaking homemade instruments. 9. One
more time listening to the song while switching roles. Students who were doing the dance will
pla the instruments and those who were pla ing the instrument will do the dance.
Closure: Can ou tell what bone is connected to the hip bone that is below it? Where is our
femur? Where is our patella?
Educational Objective: B the end of this lesson, students will have learned about bones in their bod and have
practiced their listening skills with identif ing instruments in the song.
