Introduction to the Philosophy of Human Person
OVERVIEW
One does not necessarily have to be a graduate of a philosophy degree in order for one
to do philosophy. Anybody can do philosophy as long as she raises valid or intelligent
questions, reflects meditatively, and argues in a logical manner. If we recall the discussion on
the origin of philosophy, Aristotle, following Socrates, argued that philosophy begins in wonder
or in the act of being perplexed. As we already know, when one is perplexed, as Aristotle
would have us believe, one begins to think―in a sense, one begins to philosophize.
In this module you will be articulating the nature of Philosophy, you will give some
insights, and you will be expected to explain the importance of Philosophy in human life.

What to learn?
Philosophy as a concept Philosophy is a system of beliefs about reality. It is
one's integrated view of the world. It includes an understanding of the nature of
existence, man, and his role in the world. It is a necessary product of man’s rational
mind.
Philosophy as a process Philosophy is employed as a method of inquiry. It is an
engagement in the search for the meaning of life, its value and relevance. It is a process
for finding significance in existence.
Analogy - a comparison between two things, typically for the purpose of explanation or
clarification.
Give the analogy of riding a bicycle. Riding a bicycle is not about knowing its parts but it
