Fungsi dan Hakekat Evaluasi

On the fourth meeting we were discussing about the function of evaluation. There are
some general functions of evaluation in education. The first is selective function that is used to
select or filter the students that is proper to be in one field. For example, there are some
selections for students who are worth to get scholarship, or join the prime class such as class 1A,
1B etc. there are also selections in university. When we are going to apply to a university, there
will be entrance examination or class determination.
The second function is diagnostic. We use this function to know the weaknesses and the
causes of those weaknesses of the students based on the exam or some tests that have given.
From this function we know how to handle the situation and solve the problem that makes them
not good at particular thing.
The last function is placement. We often hear about it especially at government agency.
This one is depending on the skill or the need. It is often used to make a study group like at the
course. For those students who have same result or skill will be placed in the same field.
