MOTHER FRANCISCA DAY
Passion for truth and Compassion for Humanity
Good morning and Mabuhay! Blessed be God forever.
323 years ago, the first native religious women congregation was born in the
Philippines. On that day, July 26, 1696, feast of Sts. Joachim and Anne, parents of
our Blessed Mother, Mother Francisca del Espiritu Santo together with some Beatas
made their profession in the presence of Rev. Fr. Juan de Sto. Domingo, OP. this
event is a milestone in Philippine history since the Beaterio de Sta. Catalina became
the first school which accepted native girls who during that time were discriminated
and considered second class citizens with no right to an education. This Beaterio is
the forerunner of our beloved school, Dominican School of Pilar.
Mo. Francisca was born in Binondo, Manila in 1647. After the death of her
husband, she devoted her time and effort for the service of the poor, sick and the
young. She died at the age of 60 she died on August 24, 1711.
In the year 2002, the Cause for her Canonization and Beatification was
launched, and on July 6, 2019 through the article of the Catholic Bishops’
Conference of the Philippines announcing that the Holy Father; Pope Francis
granted the title of “Venerable” to the foundress of the Dominican Sisters of St.
Catherine of Siena-Philippines, formerly knows as the Beaterio de Santa Catalina
de Sena.
Today we remember and we celebrate. We thank and praise the Lord for the
gift of Mother Francisca del Espiritu Santo.
Celebrating the lives of Mother Francisca del Espiritu Santo an only be
authentic and sincere if we continue to live her ideals and become responsible and
socially committed to our Church and our society. During this Eucharistic
celebration we ask the Lord to grant us this particular grace.
Our Mass presider is Rev. Father ___________. Let us stand and join the
choir as we start our celebration.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

First Reading
A reading from the book of Revelation

Revelation 21:9B-14

The angel spoke to me, saying, “Come here. I will show you the bride,
the wife of the Lamb.” He took me in spirit to a great, high mountain and
showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God.
It gleamed with the splendor of God. Its radiance was like that of a precious
stone, like jasper, clear as crystal. It had a massive, high wall, with twelve
gates where twelve angels were stationed and on which names were
inscribed, the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel. There
were three gates facing east, three north, three south, and three west. The
wall of the city had twelve courses of stones as its foundation, on which
were inscribed the twelve names of the twelve Apostles of the Lamb.

All: Thanks be to God.

GOSPEL
The Lord be with you
And with your spirit
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John.
Glory to you O Lord.

John 1:45-51

Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one about
whom Moses wrote in the law, and also the prophets, Jesus son of Joseph,
from Nazareth.” But Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come from
Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” Jesus saw Nathanael
coming toward him and said of him, “Here is a true child of Israel. There is
no duplicity in him.” Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus
answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, I saw you under the
fig tree.” Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are
the King of Israel.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Do you believe
because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater
things than this.” And he said to him, “Amen, amen, I say to you, you will
see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the
Son of Man.

The Gospel of the Lord.

Preface of Apostles: The apostolic foundation and witness

Celebrant: The Lord be with you.
All: And with your spirit.
Celebrant: Lift up your hearts.
All: We lift them up to the Lord.
Celebrant: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All: It is right and just.

It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere
to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through
Christ our Lord.

For you have built your Church

to stand firm on apostolic foundations,
9
MOTHER FRANCISCA DAY
Passion for truth and Compassion for Humanity
to be a lasting sign of your holiness on earth
and offer all humanity your heavenly teaching.

Therefore, now and for ages unending, with all the host of Angels, we sing
to you with all our hearts, crying out as we acclaim:

The people sing or say aloud:

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER II
Celebrant: You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.
Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,
by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall,
so that they may become for us
the Body  and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his Passion,
he took bread and, giving thanks, broke it,
and gave it to his disciples, saying:

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT:

FOR THIS IS MY BODY WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.

In a similar way, when supper was ended,

he took the chalice and, once more giving thanks,
he gave it to his disciples, saying:

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT:

THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL
COVENANT WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY FOR THE
FORGIVENESS OF SINS. DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.

Celebrant: The mystery of faith.

And the people sing or say:

We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your Resurrection
until you come again.

10
MOTHER FRANCISCA DAY
Passion for truth and Compassion for Humanity
Or:
When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup,
we proclaim your Death, O Lord, until you come again.
Or:
Save us, Saviour of the world,
for by your Cross and Resurrection you have set us free.
Or:
My Lord and my God.

Then the celebrant, with hands extended, says:

Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his Death and Resurrection, we
offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation,
giving thanks that you have held us worthy
to be in your presence and minister to you.
Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ,
we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.

C1: Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world,

and bring her to the fullness of charity,
together with Benedict XVI our Pope and Diarmuid our Bishop,
his assistant bishops and all the clergy.

C2. Remember also our brothers and sisters

who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection,
and all who have died in your mercy:
welcome them into the light of your face.
Have mercy on us all, we pray,
that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
with the blessed Apostles, and all the Saints
who have pleased you throughout the ages,
we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life,
and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.

The Celebrant takes the chalice and the paten with the host and,
raising both, he sings:
Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, almighty Father,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours,
for ever and ever.
All: Amen!
