1. Paraphrase the poems.

The Secret Sits

We dance round in a ring and suppose,
But the Secret sits in the middle and knows.

We are living in this world, finding doing anything,

But God is in our midst, understands everything.

The Floorless Room

I Wish that my Room had a Floor!
I don't so Much Care for a Door,
But this Crawling Around
Without Touching the Ground
Is Getting to be Quite a Bore!

I wish I have a pal

Who can help me to reach my goal
Live this hard life
Without anyone’s help
Makes me want to give up

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, I was faced with two choices
And sorry I could not travel both but sorry I couldn’t choose booth
And be one traveler, long I stood long I stood to decide options
And looked down one as far as I could trying to look further ways
To where it bent in the undergrowth; but I couldn’t see all paths

Then took the other, as just as fair, then I chose the other choice
And having perhaps the better claim, maybe this was the right place
Because it was grassy and wanted wear; straight path, not much cares
Though as for that the passing there maybe the other options
Had worn them really about the same, also just like this
And both that morning equally lay these two options are equal
In leaves no step had trodden black. As if there are all black
Oh, I kept the first for another day! Choose the other way, I will
Yet knowing how way leads on to way, supports are there for goal
I doubted if I should ever come back. I don’t think will be back

I shall be telling this with a sigh in the end I will share

Somewhere ages and ages hence: once upon a time, somewhere
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I was faced with two choice
I took the one less traveled by, I choose a way rarely taken
And that has made all the difference. And a lot of changes happen

2. Identify the symbols presented in the poems.

- The secret sits: the reality in our lives. God is in our midst and
accompanies our lives.
- The floorless room: a man who cannot achieve his goal (door) because he
doesn’t have motivation (someone who can motivate him) to achieve it.
- The road not taken: the reality in our lives. Life is a choice and we should
choose one and left the others.

3. Write your own limerick.

A teenager saw a kid grumble

Went to tutor with red folding table

Go running away

Buy a lot of satay

Starving carrying a heavy table
