ABM – 11 Assignment in Intro to Philosophy

DEFORESTATION

Forests serve as the provider of the needs of human beings and

animals. They give food , materials for our shelters and even the fresh air
that everyone can’t live without.

In order to provide more basic needs in life and also because of the
greediness of humankind, abusive activities have been implemented in the
forests such as deforestation. This is the cutting and burning of trees in a
particular area in the forest. This activity causes a lot of harmful effect in
our environment such as climate change. Trees should absorb more carbon
dioxide in order to reduce the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

As a high school student, I cannot avoid using papers that is made up

of trees. If even me also causes these kind of activity then I would do a
thing that can also bring good benefit to the environment. I have learned many
values in school using those papers then I will apply it to the environment.
Planting trees will be my first step because that is the only thing I can do
for now.

CLIMATE CHANGE
Maybe all of us is familiar with climate change as we commonly hear
it in news, read in articles, and even study it in school. Because of its
effects, the proper life we’ve been dreaming of is not processing.

This climate change refers to the sudden change in weather. Climate

Change occurs if there’s a huge amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is cause by activities such as burning
fossil fuels and etc.

I can contribute in reducing the greenhouse gases that causes

climate change by stop burning my trash.

LOSS OF BIODIVERSITY

Increasing human encroachment on wildlife habitats is causing a

rapid loss of biodiversity that threatens food security, population health and
world stability. Climate change is also a major contributor to biodiversity
loss, as some species aren’t able to adapt to changing temperatures. According
to the World Wildlife Fund’s Living Planet Index, biodiversity has declined 27
percent in the last 35 years.

As consumers we can all help protect biodiversity by purchasing

products that don’t harm the environment. Next time you are at the grocery
store, check to see if food packaging contains eco-labels. Also, reusing,
recycling and composting are easy ways to protect biodiversity.
