3. Explain the difference between the waveforms having source inductance
and without source inductance.
In case of source inductance, the input voltage Vp1, leads the output
voltage Vp2 because of the source inductance
Whereas, when there is no source inductance, the input and output
voltage Vp1 and Vp2 are in the same phase.

Discussion:
When the thyristor is on the output voltage is same as the source voltage. In
this case 220Sin(w* t)=iR1+ Lidi/dt. Now the thyristor will be tumed on when we
apply the gate voltage. Now the output wave form will be depending upon the
firing anglela).

Discussion:
In this case when the thyristor is on the output voltage will be Vout
put=220Sin(w*t)-Ladi/dt. So there is one additional voltage drop which is
coming for the source inductance. From KVL 220Sin(w*t)=Ladi/dt +Ri. By
applying gate pulse at various a, we will get our desirable output. Like here we
applied gate pulse at a=75" and got the output.

Discussion:
In this case when the thyristor is on the output voltage will be Vout
put-220Sin(w*t)-Ladi/dt. So there is one additional voltage drop which is
coming for the source inductance. From KVL 220Sin(w*t)=L4di/dt+Ladi/dt+ Ri.
By applying gate pulse at various a, we will get our desirable output. Like here
we applied gate pulse at a=70" and got the output.
The output voltages and currents are not purely sinusoidal in nature so there
will be some harmonics. Which is not desirable.
