Edison’s Writing Center uses various social media platforms to advertise our
writing center’s services, including:

Our main platform for advertising is Instagram as we’ve amassed a student
following and it is easy to post information about our upcoming schedule and
events.

Posting Schedule

It is important to create a consistent posting schedule so your followers get

constant updates and reminders! In Edison’s Writing Center we have different
committees that complete different tasks for our center, so our advertising
committee created an efficient schedule to assign weeks for the tutors involved
to post.

*You need to create a flyer to post for the week that is designated to you!! As of right now, we’re not
logged into Facebook so all you need to post on is Instagram, if possible make something you can
post on the IG story too (make a poll, answer questions, etc.) You need to post twice during your
designated week!!!

advertising work and
information with our teacher
and fellow tutors, we created
one big Google Doc that
contains everything we’ve
worked on up to date.
Working Around Covid Restrictions

Due to Covid-19 the advertising committee is unable to film together around the
school like we usually do. To overcome this obstacle in creating advertisement
videos, we created a system where our tutors record separately in the safety of
their own homes, and each clip is then edited together using iMovie.

What Advertising Should Do

Advertising should draw in tutees to your writing center by promoting clear,

easy to understand, and concise information. This can be done in many ways,
by using fun graphics, interactive activities, prize incentives, and more. Be sure
to include detailed instructions on how to reach your writing center, so students
aren’t discouraged from asking for help!
Online Learning

Our current online environment has proven to be extremely stressful for high
school students, so our writing center wants to be able to effectively offer our
services to relieve some of that pressure. Advertising is an important step in
being able to actually tutor and aid students, because if they don’t know about
our center, they can’t participate!
