Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the determination of fuel leakage in the event of the frontal collision by the fixed barrier and the rear collision by the moving barrier of a passenger car using the fuel in the liquid state at the ordinary temperature and ordinary pressure. 2. Definition For the purposes of this standard, the following definitions apply: (1) in course of collision Time until the test car stops from the ‘instant when the car has collided. (2) after collision Time since the test car has stopped. (3) fuel system System composing of all parts, in which the fuel axistesuch as the fuel tank, Aller horse, filler cap, piping and the like. 3. Collision Test Method ‘The collision test method shall be in accordance with JIS D 1060. 4, Measuring Method of Oil Leakage The measuring method of oil leakage shall be carried out as follows: (1) Confirm the presence of oil leakage in course of collision by the visual inspection immediately after collision. (2) Where the oil leakage can be seen after collision, gather the fuel, which has flowed out or dropped from the fuel system, or the substitutional liquid in the saucer and the like quickly and measure the mass. 5. Record of Test Results The record of test results shall be carried out as follows: (1) Presence of fuel leakage. (2) Where the oil leakage can be seen, illustrate the outline of fuel system and places of oil leakage. (3) Quantity of oil leakage for five minutes where the oil leakage can be seen after collision.
