Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the driving test method of automobiles. 2. ‘Test Method 2,1 The condition of the test automobile and the test appliances and materials shall be in accordance with JIS D 1010. 2.2 The test road shall be a road of approx. 200 kn or larger length including plain grounds, slopes, long slopes, paved roads, graveled roads, etc. 2.3. The test road shall be suitably divided into several sections, and measurement shall be conducted for the respective sections and through the whole test road. 2.4 The test automobile shall carry a preseribed load and be equipped with devices necessary for measurement, such as @ fuel consumption measuring apparatus and thermoneter. 2.5 At the starting point, the clock time and the reading of the distance meter and fuel consumption measuring apparatus shall be recorded, and as required, the temperatures of respective parts, that is, engine o1l, cooling water, speed change gear ofl, and speed reduction gear oil, and the atmospheric temperature shall be measured and recorded. 2.6 At the destination, the clock time and the readings of the distance meter and fuel consumption measuring apparatus shall be recorded, and the temperatures of respective parts mentioned in 2.5 shall be measured and recorded. 2.7 In the course of driving, the condition of respective parts of the automobile (particularly the engine, clutch, speed change gears, brakes, and steering device), state of acceleration, comfortableness of riding, and the road surface condition shall be observed and recorded. 2.8 After the driving test, as required, the respective parts of the automobile shall be disassembled and inspected according to JIS D 1023, and their strength and the condition of abrasion shall be observed and recorded, 2.9 The records and results of the test shall be written as in Appended Table.
