LIBRARY
The SPXS Library is housed in the ground floor of the New Building of SPXS. Following the Dewey
decimal classification, ten section comprise the SPXS Library. Another section is added for the
Senior High School Seminarians. The collection of each section varies according to the subjects
offered by the Seminary. The Library Staff is headed by the Prefect of Library and the Library-in-
charge. There are also two seminarians assigned to help the staff.
SECTIONS
This section is the most general class and is used for works not limited to any one
specific discipline, e.g., encyclopedias, newspapers, general periodicals. This section is also
used for certain specialized disciplines that deal with knowledge and information, e.g.,
computer science, library and information science, journalism.
This section covers the arts: art in general, fine and decorative arts, music, and the
performing arts. Recreation, including sports and games, is also classed in 700.
This section covers literature, and includes rhetoric, prose, poetry, drama, etc. Folk
literature is classed with customs in 300.
Theses Section:
This section contains all the theses of the seminarians since SPXS adopted the K-12
Curriculum.
This Summary Matrix of Library Books and References are patterned after the Department of
Education’s standards for School Library and Media Centers. The computation was based on
the number of students during School Year 2019-2020.

Audiovisual equipment -
The Library Media Resource Center is where virtual resources are found. Computers are provided for
the use of the seminarians for them to have access of the internet.
To maintain the internet’s role as a public provider of information, which is vital to the teaching and
learning of school subjects which may likely influence academic performance of all seminarians, the
Seminary has a Library Media Resource Center.

The LMRC – comprised of internet stations and different digital learning materials – is located inside
SPXS Learning Resource Center.

The AVR assists the faculty in the selection, programming, and actual production of audio-visual aids
from classroom instruction. It helps the faculty in securing audio-visual materials like slides,
transparencies, still pictures, charts, sounds, films, tapes, and phonograph records.
Located at the second floor of the Seminary’s Old Building, this room is intended for activities such
as orientations, seminars, and other related activities.
Students and faculty members who are interested to use this venue for classroom related activities
must coordinate with the staff at the Office.
