The National Law Institute University is a premier university in the field of legal education,
established in 1997. The vision of NLIU is to become one of the best centres of legal education,
training and research in the world. In furtherance of this, the University organizes two moot
court competitions & one client counselling competition annually, namely NLIU-Justice R.K.
Tankha International Moot Court Competition, NLIU National Corporate Law Moot Court
Competition and NLIU-Link Legal National Client Counselling Competition.
ABOUT MOOT
In December 2019, the University organised the 8th edition of the IBBI-NLIU National
Corporate Law Moot in collaboration with the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India. This
Moot is the successor of the erstwhile NLIU Juris Corp National Corporate Law Moot. The 2019
edition witnessed participation from leading law schools of the country. The highlight of the
Moot was the high quality of judging throughout all rounds.
The final rounds of the competition was presided by Hon’ble (Mrs.) Suchitra Kanuparthy –
Judicial Member, NCLT, accompanied by Dr. (Ms.) Mamta Suri (Chief General Manager,
IRDA); Mr. P.K. Malhotra (Former Secretary in Ministry of Law and Justice), Dr. (Ms.)
Mukulita Vijayawargiya (Whole-time member, IBBI).
Despite the unprecedented pandemic, we strive to make the 6th edition of the moot a memorable
and excellent learning experience for all the participating teams through virtual mode.
9th Edition of the Competition
Despite these unprecedented times, we at NLIU strive to make the competition bigger and better.
The competition shall be organized virtually through video conferencing. The details of the
platform will be made available in due course. The format of the competition shall consist of
four rounds of pleadings. First, preliminary rounds will be held where each team shall submit
arguments from both the sides, i.e. petitioner(s) and respondent(s). The top 8 teams shall
subsequently advance through the knockout stage-the quarterfinals followed by the semi-finals.
The last two surviving teams will compete for the winner's trophy in the grand finale. The teams
shall argue sides allotted to them as per the rules of the competition.
