Subtopic: History of Cricket (contd)
2x40minutes weekly (May27 to June 7, 2019)

General Objective
At the end of the lesson students should be knowledgeable about the game of cricket

Specific Objective

Student should be able to;


1. Illustrate and label the parts of the cricket pitch after class discussion.

2. Draw and label the different fielding positions on the cricket field

3. Draw and identify equipment used in the game of cricket.

4. Explain the purpose of three equipment used in cricket

5. State the local, regional and international governing body for cricket.

Methodology
Grouping, discussions, research, questioning etc.
Content Summary:
1. There are various equipment used in the game of cricket which include: Bats, Ball, Helmet, Leg
Pads,Wickets,Cloths and Gloves.
2. The international Cricket Council (ICC) is the International Governing Body for cricket.
3. The Regional Body- Cricket West Indies (CWI) formerly known as West indies cricket
board(WICB).
4. The local Governing body in Jamaica is the Jamaica Cricket Association.(JCA)

Resource:
Internet, Physical education text books “PE to (16) sixteen, Physical education through diagrams, and On
Track.

Engagement
Brain Storming Activity-The topic of Cricket will be written on the board. Students will be asked what

they know about the history of Cricket, as discussed in the previous class.
Exploration
A diagram of the Cricket field will be draw on the board .Students will be asked to identify different areas
on the field. Such as the midwicket, point, gully slips.
Explanation
Students will now be notified as to the specific area on the field that each named position is.
Further discussion will take place where necessary.

Elaboration
Students will be placed in group and given one of the equipment used in the game of cricket to write all that
they know about it and its purpose in the game. Teacher will clear up any misconception students might
have had, make corrections and commendations where necessary.

Evaluation
Students will be given some questions to answer from the topic. As well as equipment used in the game to
draw.
