 “RINGKASAN”

1. ENGLISH FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSE (ESP)

Learning English for specific purpose (ESP) is an approach to teaching English designed
according to student needs, with the aim that students are able to master English in the field
they are working on, the English material being studied is material designed based on the
results of an analysis of student needs. with the aim of students being able to communicate
properly and correctly in speaking English in oral and written form, being able to read
literature, being able to obtain the competencies they wanted to achieve in the learning
process.
 ESP goals
ESP-English for specific purposes has emerged as a significant field in Applied
Linguistics. This is mostly related to the needs of students for specific academic or
occupational fields. Limited word and expression skills, the goal of language
learning is an area that should be considered in ESP.
 Characteristic of ESP
Some ESP experts provide various and varied characteristics and features of ESP
in learning English. (Strevens, 1988) in Kristen Gatehouse, Key Issues in English
for Specific Purposes (ESP) Curriculum Development says that there are four
main characteristics of ESP as an approach to learning English, namely
a) ESP is designed to meet the needs of learners,
b) the substance and content of ESP associated with themes and topics in certain
fields of science, certain types of work or activities,
c) centering on the form of language appropriate to activities and fields of
knowledge or work such as syntax, lexical, discourse, semantics, and so on
d) ESP is different from General English.
2. ENGLISH PROBLEM AND SOLUTIONS
All people have the same chances to master language, in this case English,
because English is the international way of communication─ or an international
language used by most countries in the world. Therefore, people need the language in
order to make a great occasion in getting job and passing test. Unconscious thinking
will suggest someone to do something based on the perception of something. If the
learners consider that something is difficult to do, in this case English, so they will
like what they thing.
To solve the problems which are related with psychological aspect, you should
try to have many motivations and spirit. Not only that, you have to know who you are
by knowing your personal characteristic and your potency. Over and over, there are
many motivations in learning English. Based on the origin of the motivation, there
are intrinsic and extrinsic. The purpose of motivation is divided into two components:
integrative and instrumental motivation.
In conclusion, you can learn English more effectively through three steps by
identifying the problems inquiry, the cause’s analysis, and the problem solving in
order to reach the language acquisition. The first step of this process, you can make a
list which contains your problems. In this step, it is essential part because it will
determine what your causes of getting those problems are. After that, we can analyze
all causes that make you become in trouble in learning. Furthermore, you can find the
solution after knowing your problems and your causes. To make learning English
more effectively, you have to make it become your habit.
a. HOW TO LEARN ENGLISH EFFECTIVE AND EASSY
 Speaking English
Speak as often and as much as possible! This is the best way to learn English!
There is nothing better than conversation to help you improve. Whereas, you
can practise reading, writing, and listening on your own, it’s obviously better
to speak English with someone. The best way to do this is to be in an English
 speaking environment. Take an English course in an English language school,
or better still, learn English in an English-speaking country.
 Listening to English
Learn to ’shadow’ using a DVD or CD, listen and repeat what you hear said.
It’s important to remember that a native English speaker is not going to repeat
something 10 times for you to understand, so as a long term goal, you must
focus on learning to get your listening right first time.
 Reading English
Reading English is something you can do to help you learn on your own,
outside of the classroom. Have a dictionary with you (English/English is best.)
to look up new words and then write them down in a notebook. Try to use
these new words in conversation, it's a great way to learn.
 Writing English
Try keeping a diary; write something in English in it every day, even if it’s
very simple. Start with small sentences and make them longer. Again, the
internet is a great way to help. Try to make friends online, visit chat rooms,
forums, or post comments on blogs. These are all useful tools for you to learn
well from.
 English Mistakes
None of us want to make mistakes in front of others; however, your mistakes
are very important and will actually help you learn
English. The key is, not to be afraid to make mistakes. Don’t waste a chance
to speak English because you were too nervous about making a mistake.
 English Goals
Set yourself a goal and keep it in mind, it will motivate you to learn. For
example, think about why you started to learn English. Do you need to learn
English, to pass a test, for business, to travel or to watch movies? Whatever
the reason, you’ll find that you work harder when you focus on a target.

Learning ESP plays an important role in various fields, such as in the field of education,
business and others. Of course, learning ESP is very much needed in this field. ESP has
of course been designed in learning because it is related to the needs of students who
can communicate properly and correctly as a provision for getting a job.

Jawab :
Benefits of Learning English for specific purpose (ESP), namely teaching
English that is designed according to student needs, with the aim that students
are able to master English in the field they are working on, the English language
material that is studied is material designed based on the results. from the
student needs analysis. with the aim that students are able to communicate
properly and correctly in speaking English in spoken and written form, be able
to read literary works, be able to acquire the competencies to be achieved in the
learning process.
3. Apa karakteristik dari ESP?
Jawab :
a. ESP is designed to meet the needs of students. The ESP substance is
designed and developed based on the concept of needs analysis. The
concept of needs analysis aims to ensure and connect and be closer to what
students need in both the academic and professional fields.
b. The substance and content of ESP relating to themes and topics in certain
fields of knowledge, types of work or certain activities. ESP is goal-
oriented learning. In this context, students learn English not because they
want language as a language and culture contained in it, but students learn
ESP because it has specific, specific and specific goals in one academic and
 professional field.
c. ESP is different from General English. ESP caters primarily to adult
learners, children or adolescents. This is logical because school teachers are
at the secondary and higher academic and professional levels or in the
workplace.
4. Bagaimana cara belajar bahasa Inggris yang efektif?

a. Berbicara bahasa Inggris (speak English)
