Class topics and home activities
Reading: Me, Frida, and the Secret of the
Peacock Ring by Angela Cervantes
While reading pages together at home,
try to identify the main idea and retell key
details from the text. Prompt questions
about unknown words. Make a connection
between two individuals, events, ideas, or
pieces of information in the text. Critical
thinking and discussion is engaging
during reading time and will help the students
understand the material better. Come prepared
on Monday with your favorite part from the book!

Math: We are comparing, creating, and composing two
and three dimensional shapes in class. Try scanning
the QR code on the right and see how many shapes
you can find while playing on the site! Learners
should identify at least three. If you speak more
than one language, see if you can name the shape in

Health Hub: Did you know that handwashing is
one of the best ways to protect yourself and your
family from getting sick? To prevent the spread of germs,
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2020)
advises to wash hands with soap and water for at least
20 seconds or use hand sanitizer with at least
60% alcohol to clean hands. Next time you go to wash
your hands, try singing the ABC song! You can even
sing it together and make it a fun activity!

Baking Extravaganza! We are having a baking
extravaganza coming up at the end of February
(Feb. 19)! Sign up with me and let me know what
you can make. I need 3 volunteers to help with
clean-up and set-up. Allergy information should be
given along with what you will be making. Anything
from your culture is encouraged! If you cannot
make anything, see if you are able to donate any
items. Please RSVP by Feb. 16.
Movie Night! We will be having a
screening of Inside Out on March 5! We
are accepting donations of popcorn and
treats for the movie. Stay after the
movie for a discussion with the class
about what you learned and how you
related to the characters! Please RSVP
by March 5.
