EQUIPMENT:
Equipment and systems covered by this Certificate are as follows:

Rotamass TI measures mass flow, density and temperature of fluids. Two versions exist, a remote and an integral version. The transmitter is
mounted directly to the sensor in the integral version. The transmitter and sensor are connected by an IS cable in the remote version.

Four different temperature ranges are defined by the Model code. The permitted ambient and process fluid temperature are determined by the
Ex-Code.

Refer to Annex 1 to this certificate for Model codes and Options, Equipment marking, Ambient temperature and process fluid temperature and
Electrical data.

Installation instructions

The instructions provided with the equipment shall be followed in detail to assure safe operation.

SPECIFIC CONDITIONS OF USE: YES as shown below:

- Refer to the installation manual for information on the dimensions of the flameproof joints.
- Precautions shall be taken to minimize the risk from electrostatic discharge or propagating brush discharges of painted parts and label.
- Remote-type sensor and transmitter have to be connected via the grounding terminal outside of the housing, potential equalization system in the
hazardous area.
- Ambient and Process fluid temperatures are defined as described in Annex 1.

1. Description:

ROTAMASS TI Coriolis Mass Flow Meter;

The Rotamass Coriolis Mass Flow Meter is used for direct measurement of a gas or liquid mass flow
using the Coriolis principle. Rotamass consist of Sensor and a Transmitter. Following Rotamass TI
models exist:
ROTAMASS nano
ROTAMASS supreme
ROTAMASS giga
ROTAMASS hygienic
ROTAMASS intense
ROTAMASS prime
ROTAMASS CNG
ROTAMASS LPG

The Model Code always describes the complete Rotamass: Transmitter + Sensor, which is shown on
the name plate.

3. Ex-Code designation:

Structure of Ex-Code:

a.p6.p5.p4.p3.p2

Identifier explanation:
a: table index for ambient temperature
p6: table index for temperature class T6 for maximum process fluid temperature
p5: table index for temperature class T5 for maximum process fluid temperature
p4: table index for temperature class T4 for maximum process fluid temperature
p3: table index for temperature class T3 for maximum process fluid temperature
p2: table index for temperature class T2 and T1 for maximum process fluid temperature

Values of the identifiers and meaning:

An integer number is put on each identifiers’ position: a , …, p2. These integer numbers (separated by
dots) are placed on the Ex marking shown in Table 1 (if applicable to the design) and defines sensor’s
ambient and maximum process fluid temperatures (Tpro, max ) according to section 7 of this document.

An example is given in the Instruction manual.

Applicability of Ex-Code:
In general the temperature specification of Rotamass TI sensors is determined by the Ex-Code
according to section 7. For the designs without Ex-Code Table 4 and Table 5 (see section 5) are
applicable.

Applications with heat tracing option /Txx

In case of process fluid temperature limitation according temperature classes the heat tracing fluid
temperature shall not exceed the process fluid temperature limit.

7. Maximum temperature specification according Ex-Code

Temperature specification:
The temperature specification is defined by the Ex-Code, see section 3. The instruction manual shows
the applicable ambient temperature (Tamb) and process fluid temperature (Tpro, max) according to the
temperature classes. In addition the instruction manual shows an example how to determine these
temperature from the tables below.

1. Determination of process fluid temperature Tpro, max:

The Ex-Code values of p6 to p2 are the indices used for determination of Tpro, max defined in
Table 6. In the following way Tpro, max can be found for the temperature classes:
T6 determines the column T6 and the p6 Ex-Code value the row, the cross point defines Tpro, max
T5 determines the column T5 and the p5 Ex-Code value the row, the cross point defines Tpro, max
T4 determines the column T4 and the p4 Ex-Code value the row, the cross point defines Tpro, max
T3 determines the column T3 and the p3 Ex-Code value the row, the cross point defines Tpro, max
T2 determines the column T2 and the p2 Ex-Code value the row, the cross point defines Tpro, max
T1 determines the column T1 and the p2 Ex-Code value the row, the cross point defines Tpro, max

2. Determination of ambient temperature Tamb:

a. The applicable ambient temperature table (Table 7 to Table 11) shall match with the
Model Code part values for “Sensor” = 2. position and “Design and housing” = 10. position
shown on the name plate described in section 2. 8)
b. The Ex-Code value of “a” determines the applicable columns. The pre ambient
temperature Tamb pre can be found for the temperature classes:
T6 determines the inner column T6 and Tpro, max for T6 the row, the cross point defines Tamb pre
T5 determines the inner column T5 and Tpro, max for T5 the row, the cross point defines Tamb pre
T4 determines the inner column T4 and Tpro, max for T4 the row, the cross point defines Tamb pre
T3 determines the inner column T3 and Tpro, max for T3 the row, the cross point defines Tamb pre
T2 determines the inner column T1 T2 and Tpro, max for T2 the row, the cross point defines Tamb pre
T1 determines the inner column T1 T2 and Tpro, max for T1 the row, the cross point defines Tamb pre
The row showing the next larger process fluid temperature Tpro compared with Tpro, max
has to be used for the determination of Tamb pre
c. If Tamb pre > Tpro, max then Tamb =Tpro, max, otherwise Tamb=Tamb pre.

Note:8) In case of “Marine remote cable” (one of the “Options” = 15. Position of Model Code shows Yxxx) one of
the tables 9b, 10b or 11b is applicable, without Yxxx use 9a, 10a or 11a as described above.
