TEXTBOOK QUESTIONS
1. Briefly explain any three specific situations where listening will be an important part of your life.
● Listening to the teachers/lecturers: Lack of listening skill leads to loss of knowledge.
● Build credibility: good active listening skill shows maturity and respect when talking with
others.
● Discussion about work in a company: good listeners establish a good image and positive
relationships.

2. List six elements of the supportive climate. Give an example for a time when you have witnessed
each.
● Description

working, we will try to explain to others our feelings and reasons for that so we can
discuss together.
● Problem Orientation
Ex: Similarly, when we have arguments, we try not to be selfish but focus on mutual
benefits to solve the problem in the most satisfactory way.
● Spontaneity
Ex: We are always straightforward with others in teamwork.
● Empathy
Ex: In our team, when someone doesn’t do their work well enough, we try to find out if
she has a hard reason to say instead of blaming.
● Equality
Ex: We always divide work equally and try our best to make everyone feel fair.
● Provisionalism

SELF REFLECTION
Through this session, I learned the importance of listening, how the communication climate influences
people's productivity and how to solve problems to have a supportive working climate. The most
prominent feature of that session is professional and interpersonal communication. Through solving
case studies, I have the opportunity to learn about real situations, which makes me very excited. Since
then, I realized that I still have many shortcomings in the skills of listening, communicating and solving
situations. Being aware of my weaknesses will give me time making plans to improve them. I have to
practice how to listen effectively and build relationships using what I have learned.
